Great at everything but MP3s

My husband and I have been searching for a DVD player that would do everything we want (DVD-A, DVD-V, VCD 1.1 and VCD 2.0, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3s with Long File Name support, Random play for CD-ROMs and MP3 CDs, etc.), and thought we had found it with this...

Absolutely awesome VCD decoder. Crystal clear, even when paused and ff or rew.

Extremely restrictive on MP3 compatibility.

Good except for the price

I bought this for $200. At that price i expected more than just a regular dvd player. You can buy those for $79. But thats just what i got. It was simple to set up, and i works fine, and i like that you can play cd's on it. I also like the feature...

Simple, easy to set up.

Too expensive for its quality.

Toshiba DVD SD4700

I had purchased this DVD player earlier this year (July 2002) when I bought my receiver (Yamaha HTR-5490), which I reviewed a couple of months ago.

DVD-Audio capabilities, as well as VCD and MP3 playability

No multi disc, just one. Could get confusing.

SD-4700

Have problems playing some Paramount DVD if video requires more than one disk. I know it is not the disk because they work on other players(Sony, Samsung). This unit is not affected by heat as much as Sony and does not get lost or repeat chapters on...

Great picture

Terrible remote, won't play 2nd disk of some Paramount DVDs

Love DVD-Audio

After spending much time researching which progressive scan DVD player to purchase, I chose this model. My old DVD player was a Toshiba SD-2108 and it still works great, so I seriously considered getting another Toshiba. Besides progressive scan, I...

Progressive Scan makes a difference

I have had a Mitsubishi 55809 HDTV for a while and had been using a Yamaha DVS-5270 DVD player. I thought the picture was sharp and had good color saturation. I assumed that since the Mitsubishi incorporated 3:2 pulldown and line doubling circuits,...

Owner has an HDTV with it!

The DVD player is very nice. If you have an HDTV, than you are in for amazing movies and other DVD's. The main problem with this is the fact that when you use it, bars usually come up onto the screen of your HDTV, unfortunatly, if you leave them there,...

Great picture, fairly easy to use

setup is confusing, especially with an HDTV

A Real Winner Among The Progressive DVD Players!

Over all, this player has the best picture and sound, I've seen, for the price. The 16:9 viewing is awesome. If you have a widescreen HDTV, this is the way to go. The picture quality is crystal clear with no distortion in 16:9 mode. The unit itself...

Awesome Picture, Ease of use, and Price

No light on the remote and an Annoying thumb control.

Hmmmm...honestly...it's over-rated.

Cool Features. Great picture. Plays VCDs. Cheap.

Slow. Terrible MP3 sound. Remote doesn't work as well as I'd like.
