Product Specifications

The inherent quality and flexibility of Toshiba's Portable Progressive Scan DVD Player SDP1000 sets it apart from the competition. As a developer of the DVD format, Toshiba consistently leads the industry in the introduction of technological breakthroughs and convenience features. 10-Bit 27 MHz Video D/A Conversion provides rapid processing of the video signal with less signal loss, ensuring maximum image resolution and images free of artifacts. 480-Progressive Signal Output provides 480-line progressive (non-interlaced) full frame resolution performance to compatible 480-p capable displays. The result is a more film-like image, with enhanced brightness and contrast, deeper color resolution and fidelity. As DVDs are mastered in 480-p, you can enjoy the flicker-free images the movies are engineered with. ColorStream Pro Progressive Component Video Output delivers the ultimate in DVD picture performance and integrity to compatible display devices, such as multiscan-capable Toshiba TheaterWide projection televisions. Connecting a DVD player with ColorStream Pro to a compatible display device produces a flicker-free image with enhanced vertical and temporal resolution. The near film-like images of a 480p picture are brighter and the 60 frames per second display takes advantage of the full resolution capability of a DVD disk, delivering film-like images. Compact chassis size lets you enjoy all the benefits of a total DVD package in a small, space saving chassis. Excellent for those who are challenged for space, or for those using mini-systems or micro components for their homer theater. When connected to a receiver or amplifier with a Dolby Digital or DTS decoder through either the optical or coaxial digital outputs, you can enjoy the phenomenal experience of video through five discrete full range channels, whether for stunning sound effects or crystal clear dialogue. S-Video and Composite Video Outputs provide connection flexibility in conjunction with the ColorStream component video outputs. Video Black Level Control allows you to achieve remarkable contrast from your DVD player by allowing not only the NTSC standard black level, but delivering a "blacker-than-black" setting that produces incredible detail and vibrant colors. 96 kHz/24-bit Audio D/A Converter maximizes DVD and CD audio performance capability, providing smoother, less digitized transitions, and richer sonic texture. DVD/CD Direct Disk Access allows you to instantly select another disk in the changer by pressing a single button on the remote or front panel. Spatializer N-2-2 Virtual Surround Sound provides patented 3-D signal processing to deliver the ambiance of a 5.1 channel audio system from just two stereo speakers. Spatializer delivers expansive wraparound sound effects and a solid center channel from your stereo system, or for that matter, your stereo TV. DVD A-B Repeat allows you to program a "start" and "end" to a DVD segment that you choose, and continuously repeat as you determine. It's great for trying to learn those old Clapton licks, or using with instructional videos.
