The DVD player that could.

I've had my 3109 for about 4 years now. It was my first purchased DVD player, and i've never regretted it. I think back then I paid on Ebay for new - $230 (including shipping). I put in a lot of time watching DVDs, at least 6-8 hours a week. The setup...

Wow

Well I always wanted to try HDCD and this unit was a very inexpensive way for me to do so. I have a pretty high end system and this player really lets through the warmth and low end extension of my HDCD discs. King Crimson In the Wake of Poseidon...

I've owned my SD-3109 since 1999, and it has worked perfectly. I've NEVER had a problem. The quality is great; I'm glad I made the investment. I like being able to put 2 discs in at a time. Also, it plays HDCD CD's for better sound and performance. I'm...

Just after the warrenty period expired the machine froze during playback and subsequently reported "no disk" no matter what disk was inserted. Repaired for a significant percentage of the cost of a new machine. Less than 20 disks later and the problem...

Works great... but broke in under two years

This DVD player worked beautifully for the first year and a half. Then it started having errors when a disc was inserted... which I was able to live with, and get around after playing with it for a few minutes. Finally about a month ago it got the...

It's too bad they stopped making this

This is an awesome DVD player. I bought it after doing a lot of research online and truly understanding how the machine works. It came down to this one. Why? Zoom function: You can actually zoom in and look at minute detail on the movie and pan...

This DVD Player also features an advanced 10-bit Video Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) and a high-resolution 27 MHz digital filter, ensuring maximum image resolution and artifact-free pictures. Component Video is recognized as the highest quality method to connect digital sources. This feature, offered first by Toshiba, is included in the SD3109. Component Video pictures are characterized by enhanced color detail, color purity and color resolution. The SD3109 outputs 6 audio channels to your Dolby Digital Ready receiver to bring you the same state-of-the-art audio found in top cinemas. Individual adjustments are provided for bass and time management, speaker management and test tone signals. Analog outputs are also included for Dolby ProLogic or stereo TV connection. The SD3109 offers compatibility with Digital Theater Systems' multichannel-encoded Compact Discs and DVDs. The advanced perceptual coding and higher data transfer rates of DTS recreates a vivid and lifelike 3-dimensional sound field. With 24-bit quantization and 96 kHz sampling rates, the SD3109 produces finer, more richly textured sound than ever before. Advanced multibit Delta Sigma DAC provides unsurpassed signal-to-noise ratios during playback of high resolution DVD Video discs. Optimum Digital Servo Controls are included for superior laser and focus balance. A solid brass spindle with its higher mass and highly accurate disc speed improves jitter performance, ensuring the most accurate Audio and Video reproduction. For maximum convenience, the SD3109 can also play Video CDs and conventional Audio CDs. Two brightness settings let you dim the display to preserve the low light Home Theater ambience. Exclusive to Toshiba DVD players is a 4 power picture zoom that enables you to zoom in and magnify 25 selected areas of the picture during normal and slow motion playback. The SD3109 also includes a Bit Rate meter that displays the amount of bits per second handled by the advanced video DAC. The intuitively designed remote operates all the features of the SD3109. The fingertip controls are ergonomically designed for easy learning and operation. A convenient 4-way "compass" pad at the center of the remote makes it easy to navigate through on-screen programming menus. Special dedicated keys let you switch language tracks and camera angles at a touch during playback. Less frequently used keys are tucked away behind a sliding cover.
