Toshiba XDE600

The Toshiba XDE600 lacks a few features we would like to have seen but it still makes for a high-quality product.

The ability to convert standard DVDs to 1080p resolution is a solid feature available

Excellent picture quality and easy to use

Simple, basic player with an awesome picture

This is a very basic, somewhat cheap player with an amazing picture. The players functions and menus are serviceable, but the image quality is just outstanding when set to one of the three XDE picture enhancement settings. I have an Oppo DV-980H DVD...

XDE settings (Sharp, Color, Contrast) give a picture quality at 1080p that rivals much more expensive players. Very forgiving of scratched rental DVDs. Good audio

Very basic menus. Cheap remote. Thin, somewhat flimsy case. Can't desplay 4:3 aspect ratio material at 1080P without stretching. XDE settings can only be used at 1080i/1080p resolutions via HDMI

Small and works great!

This DVD player works great! It's small enough to fit anywhere you choose, and compact enough to travel with it, whether you're going to visit family or going on vacation. It plays great and have never had any troubles with it! It's a no 'frill's'...

IR receiver died

I ordered this XDE600 DVD player on December 09, 2009 to replace a much older Panasonic DVD player from 2002 whose display and audio outputs were beginning to fail and malfunction. This is only my second DVD player. It had a great picture for my HDTV...

Now region free!

The XDe-600 had one drawback keeping me from recommending it to anybody, it was region locked. However it would play PAL video as long as the sources were not region locked. Thanks to an intrepid fellow called "hikarushidou" we have a region hack....
