Vizio VBR122 Review: A Basic, Inexpensive Blu-ray Player

If you're looking for a bargain-priced Blu-ray player, the Vizio VBR122 makes an excellent choice. For $110 (as of November 3, 2011), you get very good image quality and a large selection of streaming Internet services. You also get a nifty remote...

Very low price ; QWERTY keyboard on remote ; Excellent Internet service selection ; Compact size

Limited multimedia options ; No 3D ; Slow at loading discs

The Vizio VBR122 is a compact, inexpensive Blu-ray player whose low price and QWERTY remote make it a tempting buy.

Easy setup and connect to wifi net

I upgraded to the VBR122 because of the poor support from Magnavox on a previous unit and I may do the same thing if I cant get better response out of the remote. Manual says press SELECT on every setup step. Their is no SELECT button on the remote!...

EASY SETUP AND WIFI CONNECT. dvd player works fine

terrible remote!!! Must be within 2 feet to get remote to respond and then only with much delay, very frustrating to new users. New batteries made no difference

IF the unit worked, it would be great

You have to eject the disc and hope to find the problem. Then you have to endure all the obnoxious FBI warnings again as this unit has no resume feature! I have owned it for over 6 months, and it also regularly locks up requiring me to UNPLUG it.

Lots of features and built in wifi

Over the years, I have owned 9 disc players, most of them DVD, 2 of them Blu Ray. This is the worst one I have owned! And that includes a $30 COBY. The player is hyper sensitive to the slightest blemish on the disc which it will NOT recover from

Not bad for a price...

Well, works like a charm for me! Indeed, had a moment of down... thought would return it... but not from beginning. It works my house with Samsung LCD.... and Belkin single band N+ router... It did work flawlessly until I upgraded it over the...

QWERTY remote, YouTube, all major web albums in HD streaming

no analog sound output, no lighted remote

Disappointed

I think it must have a cheap WiFi card in the VRB122. i guess I will have to put more money into what I have and buy a router extender, which cost as much as the router.

I have found any yet

I purchased this a week ago and I am disappointed. My house is not that big and I have trouble connecting tot my network. I have a Linksys router E2500. I have no trouble with the connect on my laptop in the same room, I can only get 3 bars on the vizio

Must unplug it and plug it back in anytime we use it.

Disappointed to say the least. From the time I took it out of the box and plugged it in I had to call support repeatedly. Their fix was to unplug it from the wall and plug it back in. So now that is what I have to do anytime I ... Expand full review

I haven't been electrocuted yet

Support was rude, and offered no real help, product extremely unreliable

Great 1080p media center, decent BD player

Bought the vbr122 at Walmart - $108 I'm a network engineer and amateur audiophile, so was very curious A) how this unit would integrate with my existing audio system, and B) how flexible and capable it would be for accessing internet-based media ...

Only one on the shelves I could find that included a remote with a QWERTY keyboard on the back

No true browser option - stuck with limited 'canned' apps built in, so you can't hit your own internet sources or read email
