iriver Story HD review

iriver's follow-up ereader to the Story (and its first US market offering) — the Story HD — features a newly redesigned piece of hardware, but you might not know that it's a 2011 product from a glance. The design is downright...

Crisp, high resolution display ; Very light ; Quick, responsive software

Same price as competition with fewer features ; Power button poorly placed ; No ability to highlight or make notes

As it is, it's not a bad product by any means, but better ones can be had at this price

The first eReader integrated with Google's eBookstore sports a high-definition display but falls short on ergonomics.

At first glance, the $139 iRiver Story HD seems like a solid eReader contender. The HD display differentiates this device from the Kindle and Nook, as does the wide document support. However, these features don't balance out the uncomfortable design or...

When it was unveiled back in January, the Story HD, iRiver's first entry into the US e-reader market, boasted all manner of exciting technologies,

Hi-res display ; Quick processor ; Google books integration

Uninspired feature set ; Minimal software offering ; Unattractive design

iRiver Story HD Review

The iRiver Story HD is touted as the very first e-reader to have Google eBookstore integration. The original iRiver Story has been called an Amazon Kindle clone, but this new model affixed with “HD” to its name now sports a higher XGA (1024×768)...

Priced in line with the Amazon Kindle at $139, the iRiver Story HD is lacking in certain features, but to some it’s made up for it with a higher resolution display, longer battery life, lighter weight, expandable storage with SD card, and Google...

iRiver Story HD Review: First E-Reader Tied to Google's Ebookstore Sometimes Frustrates

Google is everywhere right now. The company has made a strong push with its Google Books project, but until now it hasn't had a tie-in to a stand-alone e-reader. That changes with the iRiver Story HD, which goes on sale this weekend at Target for $140....

Clean interface ; High-resolution XGA E Ink display

Buttons are stiff, and poorly placed ; Sometimes sluggish navigation

This e-reader offers a crisp, high-resolution display, but its chintzy design leaves much to be desired.

iRiver Story HD Review

The iriver Story HD is the third ebook reader from iriver and is the first ebook reader to tie in directly with the Google ebookstore. There's also a European model that doesn't have WiFi or Google eBooks, but is otherwise mostly the same.

The iriver Story HD comes with the latest cutting edge screen technology, but it has the feature-set of an ebook reader from yesteryear.

You may have heard of Iriver's Story HD being the Google Books eReader, but sadly that model isn't yet available in the UK. Instead, we got our hands on the Basic model, which lacks Wi-Fi and Google Books integration. It's the only 6in eReader we've...

The Story HD's high-resolution screen and clear interface aren't enough to make up for the lack of Wi-Fi or a built-in eBook store at this price

iriver's latest ebook reader is the world's first to go 'HD' featuring a 768 x 1,024 electronic ink screen

A great screen, but suspect ergonomics and a lack of display options and features put paid to its chances

iRiver Story HD review

Google is everywhere right now. The company has made a strong push with its Google Books project, but until now it hasn't had a tie-in to a standalone e-reader. That changes with the iRiver Story HD.

The iRiver Story HD design leaves feels rough compared with Barnes & Noble and Kobo, and the interface feels has some work ahead, too. But the emergence of the first Google Books-driven e-reader will surely drive competition among the players in this...
