Kindle Touch review

With so many new Kindles to choose from, it's important to make the right decision for you and your family. Do you go all-in with a Kindle Fire? Skate by with the bargain basement Kindle? Or, like Goldilocks, do you choose something...

Great price ; Touchscreen ; Kindle ecosystem

Boring design ; Last-gen software ; Ads

Pretty soon Jeff Bezos will show up at my house and pay me to take a Kindle

If you're an e-ink newbie…

High contrast screen ; Smaller and lighter than most tablets ; Great battery life

Does not ship to international destinations (yet) ; Requires an eternal light when it gets dark ; Damn hard to find a good case locally

On the whole, I’d eagerly recommend the Kindle Touch to book readers, even if they are owners of the previous generation models. The touch screen interface makes using the Kindle so much easier and so much more convenient. And since it’s selling for...

Kindle Touch Review

The Kindle Touch is Amazon's first touchscreen ebook reader. Amazon is the last major ereader company to implement a touchscreen. They still offer non-touchscreen models as well with the Kindle 4, Kindle Keyboard, and Kindle DX.

Solid build quality, comfortable to hold, minimalistic design ; Touchscreen works very well; it uses infrared like the other touchscreen ereaders ; Supports text-to-speech, MP3 playback, and audiobooks from Audible.com ; Can download DRM-free ebooks...

The Kindle Touch is slightly slower than then Kindle 4 and Kindle 3 to turn pages, load ebooks, and menus ; Kindle Touch 3G wireless limited to Amazon, Wikipedia, and Shelfari (with the Kindle 3 you can browse the web over 3G for free) ; More prone to...

Aside from the touchscreen, the Kindle Touch doesn't bring any significant changes or do anything better than the non-touch Kindles. It's basically running the same Kindle interface Amazon has been using for years, minus some key features like...

If you're looking for a simple eBook reader that lets you feel like you're still holding an actual book, the device you're looking for is the Kindle Touch.

The touchscreen brings an added level of book-like realism to this Kindle

The software that makes the touchscreen possible limits the storage space available to you

If you want a simple eBook reader that feels like a book, pick up the Kindle Touch.

Is a touchscreen Kindle worth the extra money?

Great price ; Crisp, clear screen ; Intuitive interface ; Great store and software

Less elegant ; More expensive ; Some interface elements not totally touch-friendly

There's no doubt that the Kindle Touch 3G is a great device. It's not a question of whether we recommend it or not – we do – but whether it's the right Kindle model for you.
