Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4)

Sony's PlayStation 4 is a sleek, powerful game console with an excellent controller and plenty of compelling titles.

Attractive, compact design. DualShock 4 feels much better than the Sixaxis or DualShock 3 controllers before it. Great streaming support. Many new features.

Most features require a PlayStation Network connection. Non-free-to-play multiplayer requires a PS Plus subscription. DualShock 4 lightbar can't be turned off.

Conclusions The Sony PlayStation 4 feels like a beefed-up PlayStation 3, and that's just fine. It has several new and useful features like sharing gameplay footage and handling multiple users at once, and the DualShock 4 is a fantastic upgrade over the...

Sony PlayStation 4 review

Seven years is a technological eternity. Yet the PlayStation 3 has sold well for that long, ever since DJ Fatman Scoop and Ludacris hosted its blowout launch event in New York City in 2006. At...

Fantastic controller ; Handsome console ; Simple, game-focused interface

Not enough great games yet ; Occasional worrisome performance problems ; Interface doesn't scale well for power users

The beginnings of a great console — but not yet a must-buy

PlayStation 4 review: fast, powerful, worth it

More Info48 hours with the PlayStation 4: gaming and first impressionsThe seven big little details we love about the PlayStation 4Sony PlayStati

Dramatic improvement over PS3 gamepad ; Clickable touchpad ; The best triggers on any gamepad

Terrible battery life ; Analog stick coating isn't grippy enough

The DualShock 4 is everything gamers wanted from Sony's next gamepad. Unlike the DualShock 3, we only have minor complaints for the PlayStation 4's controller. It's not simply a controller we'll "put up with" for the rare exclusive PS4 titles; it's one...

Sony PlayStation 4 review

Sleeker, faster and more flexible than ever, Sony's PlayStation 4 turns out to be a formidable force in the living room.

Sony has the chance to do what few people or companies can do, and correct its errors of the past. The manufacturer

Sony PlayStation 4 Review

So I finally bit the bullet.

First-time-out faults aside, the PS4 has a lot of potential, and of the two next-gen consoles that have come out, the PS4 seems to be the leaner, meaner, slightly more powerful game console. If I gambled, I’d go with the PS4; it may not have all of the...

We have been waiting for next generation for a while now. While recent games like Grand Theft Auto 5 and The Last of Us show that the previous generation can still unleash visual masterpieces and enriched story-driven games. We always want the latest...

Sony Playstation 4 Full Review: Is It Worth It?

In 2006 gamers saw the end of the PS2. From that we transitioned in to the next generation of gaming with the introduction of the PS3. I didn't quite know what to expect with the PS3 but I knew it would be a good thing. I was right. The PS3 changed the...

Sony Playstation 4 - Does Greatness Await?

Sony's Playstation 4 will be the first next-gen console to reach Singapore, when it goes on sale tomorrow. But is it a worthy successor to the PS3? And does it offer enough to make it a day one purchase? We find out.

Slim and stylish console design ; Improved Dualshock 4 controller ; 4K resolution support ; More powerful hardware than Xbox One and Wii U ; Remote Play via PS Vita

Weak launch titles ; Short battery life on Dualshock 4 ; Restricted to 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n wireless ; Graphics don't look that much better than 2013 PS3 titles ; Not much support for PS Camera

There's lots to like about the Playstation 4: it's low-profile, runs quietly, and has a familiar but much improved controller. But right now, it just doesn't feel all that next-generation. The Playstation 2 and 3 both showed an immediate and obvious...

Sony PlayStation 4 Review and Ratings

It's still early days in terms of game selection, but the PS4 debuts as a commanding console with a better, streamlined UI that fronts solid hardware. A much-improved controller and well-executed sharing and social features make it a winner.

Streamlined UI ; Excellent controller ; Streaming-service apps (such as Netflix) don’t require PlayStation Network subscription to use ; Handy guest mode for playing with friends

No DLNA support (at time of review) ; Antiquated friending process ; HDCP-locked HDMI output ; Short controller battery life ; PS3 games don't work

So, what’s a gamer to do? Quite simply, it’s too early in the console race to declare a flat-out winner between the two new, major competing consoles here in late 2013. Developers still need a bit of time to optimize their wares for the consoles...
