ASUS R700t

ASUS' latest navigator is chock-full of features, but tries your patience.

Impressive 3D building views ; Free lifetime traffic ; Two preview modes for planning routes ; Includes Bluetooth

Entering navigation mode takes too long ; Traffic software often got stuck ; Unit sometimes didn't shut down properly ; Finding POI is a hassle

The R700t has some excellent features and a decent price, but it has a ways to go before it's the ideal driving companion. For s the ideal driving companion. For $399 we expect spoken street names and more up-to-date and comprehensive POI.99 we expect...

Asus R700t

While best known for its computer components and motherboards, Asus is branching out to all sorts of consumer electronics, including GPS. The Asus R700t is one of its first portable navigation devices, and we must admit we're pleasantly surprised. The...

The Asus R700t portable navigation system features a slim design and has an integrated traffic receiver. You also get a complimentary subscription to the traffic services, integrated Bluetooth, and 3D building renderings.

The R700t doesn't include text-to-speech functionality, route recalculations weren't always efficient, and general performance can be slow at times.

For the company's first stab at the GPS market, the Asus R700t is an impressive debut, offering some great navigation features. However, we'd like to see the addition of text-to-speech functionality and smoother performance before completely committing...

Asus R700t GPS

The Asus R700t is a sleek unit with attractive 3D mapping and some innovative multimedia bonuses. Unfortunately, these features are overshadowed by unstable reception and a lack of text-to-speech capability, meaning other devices will probably get you...

Large touch screen; easy-to-follow 3D maps; FM transmitter

No text-to-speech functionality; issues with finding and maintaining GPS signal; short battery life

Double your display real estate by adding a second monitor. It's a snap: Here's how

"Great for $199 ebay; ++features than more costly models"

This is my second gps as I have a MIO 310x and love it. Passing the MIO to my daughter and needed a replacement for me. Researched many models and the ASUS R700T provided the most features for the money. Used it locally for a few days and so far so...

Lifetime free traffic monitoring; 3D; bluetooth; easy to navigate menus if you are familiar with gps devices, if not, the menus could be confusing. The ability to make and receive phone calls and sms msgs through the R700 is a definate plus.

Fatal error displays in navigation mode if mini SD card not inserted (directions don't mention this); difficult to transfer files to the mini SD; no printed manual; no dashboard mount although the window mount works well.
