Battery door is a little tricky to open but gasket works well to keep water out of the battery compartment; must hold unit flat or level for compass accuracy (not really a con, all digital compass works this way)

Hard to use and too complex

Difficult to start. Purchased item for my wife, she is arthritic, impossible for her to activate necessary buttons. Also, extremely complex for casual/first time user.
