The Navigon 8100T offers a large 4.8-inch touch screen and a panoramic 3D map view. The GPS also has text-to-speech functionality, address entry via voice, integrated Bluetooth, and a free lifetime traffic subscription
Panorama 3D view doesn't display street names. The 8100T's general performance is slow and the voice entry system isn't very accurate. The touch screen wasn't the most responsive
The Navigon 8100T offers an impressive feature list, including panoramic 3D map views, but the GPS doesn't deliver where it counts most: performance.

The Magellan Maestro 4370 provides easy access to favorite destinations via the new OneTouch interface. The GPS also offers a sharp display ; text-to-speech directions ; advanced lane guidance ; integrated Bluetooth ; and accurate directions
Menu navigation can be a bit sluggish. Voice-guided directions are occasionally choppy, and your phone book's information isn't automatically transferred to the Maestro 4370 when connected via Bluetooth
Despite a couple of minor performance issues, the Magellan Maestro 4370 offers convenience through its new OneTouch interface and also delivers with features and accurate directions.

The Navigon 7200T offers address entry via voice and 3D renderings of major landmarks. The GPS also features text-to-speech functionality, advanced lane assistance, and integrated Bluetooth
The 7200T's voice command system is limited to address entry and requires some training. The user interface isn't as simple as a Garmin or TomTom unit
Though the Navigon 7200T doesn't have cleanest user interface, the portable GPS offers plenty of advanced navigation features and accurate directions.

The TeleNav Shotgun offers Internet connectivity via cellular network to provide real-time traffic data, current maps, current gas prices, and more. The GPS features a slim design, bright touch-screen, and text-to-speech functionality
The Shotgun was slow with route recalculations, and satellite acquisition also took some time. The TeleNav Connected Service is a bit limited at this time, and search results don't always make sense
The TeleNav Shotgun's Internet connectivity brings dynamic content to the driver, but the functionality is a bit limited at this time, and the GPS needs to work out some performance issues before we give it co-pilot duties.

The Sony NV-U44 features text-to-speech, which is a great feature to have in an entry-level model. The dual view with lane guidance is invaluable in cities with complex highway systems
The predictive search on the text entry is unpredictable, often causing the accidental selection of a wrong option. Gesture command system is not well documented
The Sony NV-U44 offers a few useful features that competing manufacturers have not yet implemented on their entry-level models.

The NV-U84 GPS device has a huge 4.8-inch wide screen and is easily viewable in direct sunlight. Position Plus makes navigating areas with spotty satellite reception more precise. The Super Suction Cup allows dashboard mounting as easily as glass ...
For a device with no Bluetooth and no traffic data, the $349 price tag seems a bit high. The jumpy auto-complete system actually slows down destination entry
Sony has positioned the otherwise good NV-U84 GPS device in an odd spot, where it's not as good a value as the models immediately above and below it in the NAV-U lineup.

As the entry-level model in the Sony NAV-U line of portable GPS devices, the NV-U44 has a fairly basic feature set. There's no Bluetooth hands-free. There's no traffic information. There's no multimedia playback. For your $249 dollars, the only ...

For one, it has the big 4.8-inch touch screen and higher price that imply it's a step up the ladder from the 4.3-inch screen of the NV-U74T. On the other hand, it lacks most of the advanced features of the NV-U94T and U74T--such as Bluetooth and ...

The Alpine PND-K3 offers a nice user interface and has text-to-speech functionality and advanced lane guidance. The in-car GPS also features integrated Bluetooth
The K3 is expensive, and battery life is poor. We didn't always find route recalculations to be the most efficient
With the new interface and additional navigation features, the Alpine PND-K3 is an improvement over the company's previous in-car GPS, but the expensive price tag is a turn-off, especially when you can get more for less.
