DeLorme Earthmate GPS review: DeLorme Earthmate GPS

DeLorme's new Earthmate GPS receiver and Bluetooth PowerPack cradle retain the bright yellow-and-black color scheme that marked previous Earthmate models. The GPS receiver itself weighs only 2 ounces and can connect to non-Bluetooth systems via a USB...

Solid receiver; reasonably priced; can be worn on your belt or easily mounted in your vehicle.

Bulky; could use a style makeover.

The versatile Earthmate connects wirelessly to your PDA or laptop via a USB cable, but it misses the mark in the coolness category.

DeLorme Earthmate PN-30

The DeLorme Earthmate PN-30 is a stripped down version of the PN-40, bringing all the features of that popular model, except for the electronic compass and barometric altimeter. It includes the PN-40's dual-core processor for fast map redraws and...

DeLorme Earthmate PN-40

There has been a lot of talk that the PN-40 takes a little longer than some other handheld GPS systems to figure out. Navigating through all the different features can get a little daunting and there is not always a clear cut way of getting from one...

Ironclad reputation for getting reception in adverse conditions

The smallish screen may take some getting used to

This is the best all-around value for a recreational GPS.

Earthmate PN-40

Although it is not designed specifically as a road bike GPS , the Earthmate PN-40 has qualities that make it a great option for some cyclists. The best feature of the Earthmate outdoor and bike GPS

This is a rugged outdoor GPS that provides great features for biking. It is waterproof, runs on AA batteries and has a beautiful color display

The battery life of this GPS is only eight hours

Although this GPS is a great choice, it lacks the ability to provide important data like cadence, temperature and calories burned.

This GPS is Interesting "gadget", but frustrating in several areas

I'd been wanting to get a handheld GPS for quite a while, and my trip to Peru to help some researchers look for fossils in the desert for 17 days was finally a good enough excuse!

Satellite images, high-res color screen, unlimited downloads of US maps for a cheap fee

Topo 7/8 software, flakey usb, no non-US maps, importing gpx files
