Garmin eTrex review

Garmin eTrex

Lightweight; sharp screen; loads of memory.

No driving directions; expensive; additional MapSource programs are costly.

Although the eTrex Vista and its add-on programs may be a bit pricey, you will not find a more feature-packed GPS device in a smaller package.

The Garmin eTrex is a good beginner GPS. It offers plenty of features to help you find your way around the city or woods, but it's streamlined enough to be easy for even the newest users. In addition to being easy to use, this handheld GPS is less...

The eTrex is not as advanced as other Garmin handheld GPS units, which makes it a good choice for beginners. It does not have a touchscreen like many other recreational GPS devices, but it still offers wireless connectivity and can store as many routes...

Good GPS but with a Serious Undocumented Flaw

I've been very happy with my eTrex 30 for a couple of years until recently, when I attempted to upload a large number of Waypoints from Google Earth, using Garmin's BaseCamp software. I found out, 'unfortunately', that if you load more than 2,000...

Still have mine as a backup

I started with this unit when we first got into Geocaching. It worked well and got us to GZ with ease. The only downfall and big complaint is the PC connection. A USB to Serial cable was not available from Garmin and it took a while to find one....
