Best GPS sport watch

Garmin's GPS sport watches consistently earn high ratings, and reviewers say the Garmin Forerunner 210 is the best bet for most users. It lacks some of the advanced training features found on Garmin's more expensive GPS watches, but experts say the...

Easy to use, gPS-enabled, acquires satellites quickly, displays current pace

Can't be used for swimming, display isn't customizable

Garmin Forerunner 210

The Garmin Forerunner 210 is a new mid-range sportswatch that adds some features to the entry-level Forerunner 110, including added pace functionality. The 210 also retains the small size of its younger brother, and uses the same button-driven...

Useless crap

I've had the Venture for a few years. I've been tempted to send it to Garmin, and tell them to cram it,even though the warranty and such expired long ago. It takes like ten minutes for the thing to boot up and find satellites, and then a passing cloud...

Feature rich, but that's uselss if it can't read a signal

Waste of money, if you are anywhere near a tree, or clouds

It wasn't that easy for me to use (out-of-the-box) AND, what, no maps?

It's probably typical, not just with Garmin, that you need to buy the maps separately. I only paid $98 new, so I will have to wait until I receive the map I ordered ($49) Points of Interest to give it a "honest" review.

It's waterproof, has major cities as a default. Good for tracking without maps

Need to buy maps. Couldn't really seem to zoom in fine enough detail (tracking)

Poor Antenna

The antenna system is poor and can easily loose satalite reception. Even your fingers can cause reception loss. It makes it very difficult because you can only ensure satalite reception if you carry it in your hand, away from your body, the whole time...

Product Specifications

The eTrex Venture offers a worldwide database of cities and increased internal memory. It is also one of three eTrex units that are designed to provide precise GPS positioning using correction data obtained from the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS). This product will provide position accuracy to less than three meters when receiving WAAS corrections. The memory capacity of one megabyte allows the eTrex Venture to accept downloaded information from Garmin's new MapSource Points of Interest CD-ROM. The CD enables users to download locations such as restaurants, hotels, shopping, and entertainment. Once the information is loaded into the unit, you can make a selection and telephone and address information for a particular point of interest will appear on the screen. The CD also includes marine data such as lights, buoys, wrecks and obstructions. The eTrex Venture comes housed in a stylish, translucent green case.
