Garmin fenix Review

With the recent Stravafication of running and cycling it seems there is little reason to go anywhere or do anything unless it's GPS tracked for speed, distance, and time. What good is going outdoors if we're not able to capture each data point for...

Stylish, sophisticated yet rugged design ; Huge display reads well during serious activity ; Solid GPS tracking options ; ANT+ and Bluetooth communication ; Cadence and speed capture for cyclists ; Good battery life ; Waterproof to 50 meters

Menu layout is confusing and difficult to navigate ; Profiles and data pages are complicated to set up ; No swimming or snowboard/ski profile ; Full manual is only available online ; Documentation lacks in detail

There's little the fenix does that smartphone apps can't do a whole lot cheaper, but it will reliably churn out data long after your phone has died or lost connectivity and it looks fantastic doing it.

A smart watch for the outdoors that's as easy as ABC

Breadth of data ; Excellent build quality ; Long battery life ; BaseCamp app

Expensive ; Locating satellites is slow ; On-watch maps are poor ; No touchscreen
