Garmin Forerunner 15 review: A great watch for the casual runner

What would happen if you combined a GPS running watch with an activity tracker? You would get the Forerunner 15, the newest running watch from Garmin. The Forerunner 15 combines the features found in Garmin's budget-friendly Forerunner 10 GPS running...

The Forerunner 15 has both a GPS and a pedometer. It also includes an always-on display with a backlight, long battery life, a waterproof design, and is compatible with wireless heart-rate monitors.

The lack of Bluetooth makes syncing to your computer and mobile device a real nightmare. The design isn't all that fashionable and may be a bit bulky for some work environments.

Its lack of Bluetooth notwithstanding, the affordable Garmin Forerunner 15 is otherwise a great health tracking wristwatch for runners.

Garmin Forerunner 15 ( black/blue, Watch Only)

The Forerunner 15 is available in a variety of color combinations and two sizes. Technically the sizes are for a large wrist and a smaller one, but the color scheme alludes to different models for males and females. The large color options are black...

Garmin Forerunner 15 review: sports watch first, fitness tracker second

For about the same price as an entry-level running watch, the Forerunner offers all the usual running features, plus step tracking so you can monitor your activity between workouts. It's a good buy for runners who need a sports watch, and would prefer...

Long battery life ; Fair price, considering the feature set ; Includes step tracking, allowing it to double as a basic fitness tracker ; Compatible with heart rate monitors ; Waterproof

No wireless syncing ; Doesn't automatically track sleep ; App doesn't offer much motivation ; Because it's more of a running watch than fitness tracker, you won't necessarily want to wear it every day

I'll admit, after testing the Forerunner 15, I was tempted to return the pricier Forerunner 220 I recently purchased and get this instead. If you're like me -- a runner who also wants to track activity between workouts -- the 15 is a compelling choice....

Garmin Forerunner 15

Garmin is one seriously trusted name among data-loving athletes, and its Forerunner 15 is the best hybrid sports watch-activity tracker we've tested. The price is right, too.

Expertly designed runner's watch. Great price. Includes step tracking for daily activity monitoring. Clear display. Long battery life, and rechargeable. Includes GPS. Waterproof up to 50m. Simple navigation. Rich data analysis via website. Optional...

Overtly sporty design means you might not want to wear it 24/7. Doesn't track sleep. Can't sync directly with phones

When runners ask me what's the best activity tracker to count their daily steps, I usually counter with another question: "Do you also want pace, heart rate, lap times, and other running stats?" When they say yes, I now have a clear answer: Get the...

Garmin Forerunner 15 Review

This fitness monitor is a convenient choice for GPS and heart rate training. When you're looking to improve the intensity of your workouts, the Garmin Forerunner 15 has some of the best features such as lap time, calories burned and an accurate chest...

The Garmin Forerunner 15 has GPS capabilities to monitor your speed, distance and duration as well as your heart rate.

Even though you can transfer data, the watch itself only stores seven laps at a time, which is much less than competitors.

The Garmin Forerunner 15 is a highly capable watch with GPS and app compatibility so you can save and review your progress over time.

Garmin Forerunner 15 review

Running tech going cheap

Low price for a GPS running watch ; Rapid and accurate GPS ; Garmin Connect offers DEEP analysis ; Good battery life

No Bluetooth means no mobile sync ; Fairly flimsy build and basic screen ; Polar M400 is almost as cheap, even better

For a lot of runners - newcomers and those on a budget - this will be a really great choice. It's not flash but it does have a lot of power for its price.

Garmin Forerunner 15

This is a watch with the ability to count your steps and even with the aid of the chest strap provided also check your heart rate during exercise. So apart from using satellite technology why has this company diversified into this area.

If your car has a Sat Nav it is quite likely that it could be a Garmin. These days this market is contracting as most recent Smart Phones can offer this feature so other markets have to be tested. While I was happy to test this device my first question...

Garmin Forerunner 15: a Good GPS Fitness Watch With Room to Improve [REVIEW]

At $169, the Garmin Forerunner 15 is on the low-end of the GPS-enabled fitness tracker spectrum, but that price comes with a few sacrifices.

GPS functionality ; Lightweight and rugged ; Good info via Garmin Connect

No Bluetooth functionality ; Heart-rate monitor requires an add-on ; Aesthetic
