I have a GPS12 in a couple years, mainly for surfing the heather and hills in search of my stones, stone circles, shafts and connectors. It is easy to see on a map where the goal is simply on the ground is difficult to decide exactly where you are....

I have 5 GPS, but Garmin 12XL is my favourite GPS, i use this GPS for adventure, BTS waypoint marking, survey, use in motobike & car. I I always carry a GPS 12XL, everywhere, and if I find a place Point of Interest I turn on this GPS to mark waypoint....

Very durable and quite compact Uses AA batteries The usual good navigation, tracking and waypoint features that Garmin uses (although only basic in this model)
