Garmin GTU 10 review: Garmin GTU 10

Garmin is best known for its Nuvi GPS navigators, which show motorists where they are, where they're trying to go, and how to get there. With the launch of the GTU 10 GPS locator, Garmin is trying something different: showing you the location of...

Garmin GTU 10

Whether you want to keep track of property, pets, or even people, the Garmin GTU 10 GPS locator can help, but it's not as inexpensive or as easy to use as it should be.

Small. Battery can last up to four weeks. Clever tracking with geo-fences. Works with free iOS and Android mobile apps.

Setup can be complicated. Companion Web site is finicky, and only works with certain browsers. Expensive.

GPS Tracking - Garmin GTU 10 Review

Easy to set up and use., Set geofences with notification to website or smartphone., Waterproof, lightweight, self-contained., No-hassle cellular plan, first year free.

Battery life could be better.

Garmin makes GPS tracking easy and affordable with the GTU 10. Track just about anything with this compact, waterproof, lightweight device.

Garmin GTU 10 GPS tracker review

The Garmin GTU 10 is Garmin's first significant entry into the live GPS tracking market. The small device pictured above can send its location to your computer or phone on demand. The possibilities are nearly endless. Got a wayward pet that likes to...

First year of monitoring service is included ; Very small and lightweight ; Reasonable total cost ; Well designed Web interface for setup and tracking ; Accurate location reporting

Standard tracking plan limits you to viewing only the last ten points of daily tracking history ; Website and mobile app are slow to display results (takes a minute or two) ; Android app occasionally failed to retrieve location ; Short battery life

Garmin has done a good job with this, their first mainstream GPS tracking product. Battery life is a concern though, especially if you need the location ascertained frequently (e.g., every five minutes). Otherwise, my biggest gripes are about speed of...

Garmin GTU 10 review: Garmin GTU 10

Garmin GTU 10

The ; 's geofences function sends notifications when the device is brought into or out of a user-defined area. You can track the GTU 10's location and adjust its settings online via a Web app or on a smartphone with the Garmin Tracker app for iPhone or...

Blocking the GTU 10's view of the sky can compromise its positioning accuracy, making it less than ideal for use near tall buildings.

The Garmin GTU 10 is a good tool for tracking and finding lost things, but its positioning accuracy is dependent on the geography around it and the frequency of its reporting.

Garmin GTU 10

The Garmin GTU 10 has a simple design and a user frindly software. It measures something around 3 x 1.25 x 0.75 inches. The Garmin GTU 10 has a waterproof body and thus includes a single rubber power button.

Garmin GTU 10

Very accurate, I was worried that the device ewouldn't get a mobile network signal to let me know where it was, but seems to have worked everywhere I have been so far, even when our family mobiles don't work.

Needs to be strapped to my Beagle's harness, a bit too cumbersome to put on his collar. The iPhone app is great, just that if you don't have a network connection, you can't get the location info, it will work over wifi though, even if you don't have...

Garmin GTU 10

Works as advertised with one major exception.

That major exception is it cannot be used on holiday as it is tied the country network you buy it in. Not advertised and not written anywhere but don't expect to use abroad.

Garmin GTU 10

Small, lightweight and pretty accurate. I fitted mine to quadcopter drone with attatched camera, the meager weight did not affect its flight or GPS flight control system. A necessary addition as I lost a previous one at the loss of £900!!! This product...

A little bit costly, however, as good as any for its size on the market.

Small light and accurate

Must remember to switch on outdoors otherwise it switches off, something you quickly learn after your dog is off in the woods.
