Garmin nuvi 1490LMT

The Garmin nüvi 1490LMT adds lifetime map updates to the nuvi 1490T (which already includes lifetime traffic). All this in a package with a 5” wide screen and multi-destination routing, features not found on any of the nuvi 12xx or 13xx models.

There are several changes to the nuvi interface in the 12xx, 13xx and 14xx series. For one, the menu button is gone, replaced by the arrow in the lower left corner.

Great product as long as you have the latest updates...

I've been very happy with this unit. I had problems initially (random restarts, wouldn't connect to computer), but system updates seem to have taken all of the bugs out and it has worked great over the last 10 months.

Normally acquires satellites in seconds (unless I land half way across the country). Speed limits are correct 95% of the time. I almost always know about traffic problems before I get to them

I had to go in and delete foreign languages to free up space for map updates. Very easy to do. Google it

The engineers didn't think this model through!

I'm very disappointed with this unit! This unit is a demotion from my previous Garmin devices! With smartphones evolving and getting better, I do not see Garmin surviving the automotive GPS market unless they up their game and start producing quality...

Lots of screen space. Thinner design

Maps can't be updated unless you install a micro-sd card & can navigate Garmin's labyrinth website; Garmin didn't consider map updating hard drive requirements with this unit! This model is much slower than my 4-year old model at locating satellites

Great Screen - Great Fratures - Some Quirks

Having been a Garmin owner for about 5 years I had no doubt what brand I was going to buy, my old Garmin served me well but it was time for a new one and the wide screen was a key feature I wanted in my new one. The screen is impressive, while going...

Screen is impressive, anti-glare and very bright ; Bluetooth phone paring was very easy and works great ; Interface is perfect. Everything works very intuitively ; Software and Map updates are great ; Oversize screen is great

The unit doesn't speak street names. Not a big issue for me, but could be for others

Bought Two!

This is my second unit I have bought. I gave my other one to my son in Colorado. I use it when I go on vacation and with roads ever changing this unit is tops/ It also avoids traffic slowdowns and works coast to coast. Definitely money well spent.
