Garmin nuvi 50LM

The Garmin nüvi 50LM is the top of the line navigator in Garmin's new 2012 Essential series, offering a 5” wide screen and lifetime map updates. The models in this series are meant to be basic navigators at a budget price, lower than what we've...

No powered mount ; Cannot add a traffic receiver ; Can only hide Trip Log; cannot clear it without resorting to a hard reset ; Only includes maps of 48 states (although a version that adds Alaska, Hawaii and Canada is also available)

Highly recommended. This is without a doubt the best entry level navigator Garmin has ever released. It has an ultra-wide 5” screen along with features previously restricted to mid-range units. You can't hardly go wrong with this one.

Garmin Nuvi 50LM

The Garmin Nuvi 50LM proves that you don't have to spend a small fortune to get a high-quality navigation GPS. While it is light on many extra features, the maps and instructions are better than many other devices on the market. The 50LM has most of...

Despite its low price, this navigation GPS includes several high-end features

There are no traffic updates, and you cannot attach a traffic antenna to alert you to jams or congestion

If you would like to get a navigation GPS for your vehicle, but don't want to spend hundreds of dollars, the Garmin Nuvi 50LM delivers high quality at a low price.

Great tech support. They even used windows remote assistance to make sure the fix was done right. I was very favorably impressed! Way to go guys!

Bought refurbished it worked fine out of the box. Replaced a much older, smaller Garmin unit (that still works, by the way)

After an initial trip with the unit, I updated it using Garmin's website, and the only problem with THAT was the update wiped out the voice directions feature. Contacted Garmin tech support and they promptly fixed the problem on line with updated...

Great Father's Day Gift

My father is 50 years old and quite the redneck gun toting cowboy. He can operate a cell phone but the internet is beyond his comfort zone. I was worried that this device would be beyond him as well but after playing with it I felt that it was simple...

Easy to use and set up. The windshield suction cup mount works really well and the device is pretty adjustable. I mounted this thing both near the bottom of my windshield (resting above the dash in the center of the car) and on the upper left corner of...

The only cons, and they are small, include the amount of registration that comes with the package - I'm not a fan of creating accounts for things. The cord plugs into the cigarette lighter and wires to the device which can get in the way but this is...

"Look elsewhere"

In closing, I'm sad I bought this device. I wish I purchased something else or kept with my old Garmin 330c.

There is a map, and it moves. It does work. Free map upgrades? I like the feature where it shows a visual representation of complicated highway interchanges and shows you the lane in which you should travel. The device also shows the speed limit and...

Downloading the map updates when it arrived was a failure. Apparently, there isn't enough storage space on the device to download the upgrades. I wasn't trying to download the entire world, just the area I will drive in. It seems that I have to...

Garmin Has Always Been My Choice

I had an older Nuvi 350i which didn't have lifetime maps. Decided to upgrade to one that did have that feature. It offers a side picture of the off ramp which I do like. I do miss my old voice for instruction.. Excellent Value.

Garmin Nuvi 50LM

It was very easy to set up and use and the mounting is easy to use and is sturdy. Problems noted: it will sometimes direct you to a less desirable route ie. off the interstate to back roads that are OK but slower and less convenient. Also, as noted in...
