Garmin Nuvi 260 review

Garmin Nuvi 260

The Garmin Nuvi 260 boasts a compact design and is easy to use. It offers accurate directions and some nice tools for the traveler. The Nuvi 260's text-to-speech reads street and POI names aloud.

Though the Nuvi 260 is more affordable than other models in the series, we wish the price was slightly lower based on the included feature set.

The Garmin Nuvi 260 offers drivers and travelers a more budget-friendly version of the popular portable navigation devices and includes text-to-speech, but we think the price is still slightly high for what you get.

Garmin's nuvi 260W has been moved to the "Discontinued" section of Garmin's website, but the company still provides regular firmware and map updates for the 260W.

Garmin Nuvi 260 and 270 Portable GPS Navigators Review

The Garmin Nuvi 260 and 270 models are less expensive, portable GPS navigators. The 200 Nuvi series overall is the entry level series of the very popular Garmin Nuvi range of portable/personal GPS navigators with features to aid the traveller

Garmin nuvi 260W review

The Garmin nüvi 260W is a member of Garmin's popular entry level nuvi 200 series. A 4.3″ wide screen version of the smaller nuvi 260, the 260W is identical to it in all other respects. The 260 and 260W are the only two models in the first-generation...

Garmin Nuvi 260 Review

I currently own both a Nuvi 250 and a 260, both of which are excellent and wonderful devices, and the most useful new feature that the 260 has and the 250 doesn’t have is the text to speech feature. This means that the gps system actually says the...

Garmin Nuvi 260

As per the 260W — an easy to use GPS, with great verbal speed and red light camera warnings which, unfortunately, aren't installed by default — but narrower and AU$100 cheaper.

Simple interface with big icons ; Compact windshield mount ; Great verbal speed and red light camera warnings

but you'll have to wrestle demonic overlord of the internet first ; Slow start-up time

Overall In ease-of-use terms the Garmin loses in a points decision with TomTom's, primarily because of the missing QWERTY keyboard and the safety camera warnings which have to be loaded manually. At the RRP we'd still plump for TomTom's fourth...
