Garmin nüvi 40LM GPS receiver

Design The Nuvi 50 is built around a 5-inch WQVGA (480x272 pixels) color screen with resistive touch sensitivity.

The Garmin Nuvi 50 features a large screen and an easy-to-use and easy-to-understand interface. Text-to-speech-spoken street names and colorful maps also aid user friendliness.

Text and graphics appear pixelated upon closer inspection. The dashboard mounting disc and USB sync cable are not included in the box.

Garmin's formula for entry-level GPS devices doesn't change much with the new Nuvi 50, but small tweaks, a lower price, and a massive screen enhance value.

Garmin nuvi 40LM

The Garmin nüvi 40LM is a 4.3” navigator in Garmin's new 2012 Essential series. The models in this series are meant to be basic navigators at a budget price, lower than what we've previously seen for Garmin entry-level models. Nevertheless, they do...

No powered mount ; Cannot add a traffic receiver ; Can only hide Trip Log; cannot clear it without resorting to a hard reset ; Only includes maps of 48 states (although a version that adds Alaska, Hawaii and Canada is also available)

Highly recommended. This is without a doubt the best entry level navigator Garmin has ever released. It has a generous 4.3” wide screen along with features previously restricted to mid-range units. You can't hardly go wrong with this one.

Useless! Get something else or use a phone

The touchscreen works well

And you're gonna need it, because it doesn't have voice recognition for spoken destinations. I knew about that, but thought that it wouldn't be that much of problem, until I found myself having to pull over somewhere to type in a new destination. Get...

Men never ask for directions!

I never ask for directions and when things go wrong, the wife lets me know. With this she can enter the information and keep her entertained. Should of bought one a long time ago.

My First GPS

It was fully charged right out of the box. Easy to link and set up with my PC. Maps updated readily, but it seems to keep wanting to do an update that doesn\'t seem to exist. Works fine otherwise. This was my first GPS, and am satisfied with the price...

No Better Than 5-Year Old Nuvi 350

We bought the Garmin Nuvi 40LM as an update to a still-usable Nuvi 350 whose maps were woefully out of date. Buying a new GPS was only slightly more expensive than purchasing a map update from Garmin for the old unit. The Nuvi 40LM works about as well...
