Garmin Nuvi 660 review: Garmin Nuvi 660

The Garmin Nuvi series has proven to be a great success for the veteran navigation manufacturer. The Garmin Nuvi 350 impressed us not only with its solid performance but also with its travel-friendly features, and it consistently ranks up there as one...

The Garmin Nuvi 660 offers an accurate GPS receiver, text-to-speech functionality, and traffic capabilities. The versatile system also features a gorgeous display, integrated Bluetooth, travel tools, and multimedia functions.

The device is expensive, and there are no external volume controls. The system also doesn't support multidestination route creation.

If you can afford the hefty price tag, the Garmin Nuvi 660 is a solid-performing and versatile GPS device that offers all the navigation basics, tools for the world traveler, Bluetooth, and more.

Garmin nuvi 660

Last fall, Garmin created the shirt-pocket GPS market with its introduction of the nüvi 350. It set the performance bar high and earned an Editors' Choice by combining a SiRF Star III GPS receiver with a 3.5-inch screen and a host of features that...

WQVGA 4.3-inch screen. Sensitive GPS receiver. Integrated traffic receiver. Bluetooth speakerphone interface. POI database integrated with phone capabilities

Pricey. No multisegment routing capability

Garmin's nüvi 660 is now the leader of the high-end shirt-pocket GPS market. It's pricey, but if you want the most fully featured yet tiny navigation device with a 4.3-inch screen, the nüvi 660 is your only choice.

Review: Garmin Nuvi 660 - Excellent

The Garmin Nuvi 660 is the wonderfully flat and wide screened GPS that is a rock star already in the GPS world. Its thin profile has it ready to go anywhere, and the widescreen shows you so much more than a standard screened navigator, you'll never...

Garmin nuvi 660 review

Before we get into the details of my review, lets look at other models in the nuvi 600 series. The nuvi 670 is identical to the 660, except that it adds European maps as well. The nuvi 680 uses MSN Direct services, giving you access to weather, fuel...

UPDATE: Though still available and supported, Garmin has discontinued the nuvi 660. For newer models, check out my Garmin nuvi comparison chart.

Nuvi 660

Get to where you need to be with the Garmin Nuvi 660.

Product Specifications

The Foretrex 201 is a wearable Personal Navigator, perfect for outdoor and marine enthusiasts who desire hands-free GPS navigation in a lightweight, affordable package. At a mere 2.75 ounces, this waterproof wonder is lighter than most watches, and its wrist-top mount frees up hands for outdoor activities. Sporting an ergonomic wristband, the Foretrex 201 is similar in design to the Forerunner 201, yet is chocked full of GPS navigation features found in Garmin's popular Geko 201 unit. With a user-friendly interface, the rugged Foretrex 201 simplifies navigation, making it ideal for the backcountry or water. Its six dedicated buttons (GoTo, Page, Enter/Mark, Up, Down and Power) make it easy to operate. It offers the most essential navigation data - enhanced GPS accuracy, extensive storage for waypoints, and reversible routes and tracks - on an easy-to-read display. Don't worry about packing extra batteries, because the Foretrex 201 runs on an internal lithium battery for 15 hours (typical use). Simply recharge and go. The Foretrex 201 also comes equipped with special features sure to please mariners and hikers alike. It includes a unique application for sailing and paragliding racers that allows them to configure the start sequence of a race. The countdown is displayed in a large-number format that audibly alerts the user at each phase of the start sequence. With the help of Garmin's exclusive TracBack technology, hikers can mark a campsite, go trekking all day, and follow the electronic "breadcrumb trail" back to camp in time for dinner.
