Garmin nüvi 865T review

At £399 the Garmin nüvi 865T is not cheap but it comes with loads of features including a traffic antenna and support for voice-dialling and navigation via its Bluetooth integration.

The Garmin nüvi 865T of plenty of functions but wit a hefty price tag, you’ll need to ensure you’ll use them regularly to get value for money from the device.

Garmin Nüvi 865T review

The Nüvi 865T, being towards the top of Garmin's range, has an impressive feature set that performs well - but comes at a price.

Voice control, customisable display, ‘Where am I?’ function

Expensive, voice-control function not quite sensitive enough

Other features include a music player, calculator, currency converter, alarm clock and games.

Have problems with speed cameras locking the unit out but garmin are working on a fix and will put right by giving me credit on speed camera database for the time without it / it does not happen on all cameras just a few local yellow ones.

Very accurate and easy to use. FM transmitter is a great function especially when combined with a micro SD card for the MP3 player. The voice cuts the music and is exceptionally clear. The only downside is having to retune when on a long journey. Also...

Music player defaults to off. FM transmitter does not go below 88.1

excellent clear view screen ,on route up to date traffic reports with alternative routes, hands free operation and phone call handling.

Great difficulty down loading initial free update as broadband is very very slow in the area I live. a disc would have served much better.

Garmin Nuvi 865T

easy to use

screen position lags the actual position with risk of missing junctions etc. Ability of software to download to update maps to latest version is abysmal. Lane advice and actual view very limited, mainly motorway junctions.
