Garmin StreetPilot c580

Editor's Note: Portions of the Design and Features sections were taken from our review of the Garmin StreetPilot c550 as the two devices are nearly identical. Exceptions are noted.

The Garmin StreetPilot c580 now offers MSN Direct services so you can get real-time traffic and weather information as well as local gas prices and movie times. The unit also has text-to-speech functionality, integrated Bluetooth, and multimedia...

The MSN Direct service isn't available in all areas, and names of gas stations weren't always provided. The c580's media player also only supports the MP3 format.

In addition to accurate driving directions, the high-end Garmin StreetPilot c580 provides a number of useful tools to the driver, such as real-time traffic data and local gas prices, thanks to the integration of MSN Direct services.

Review: Garmin's c580 makes fast work of other GPSes

My head is spinning with all the new GPS products hitting the market. GPS systems have been very popular all over the world and now they're catching on in the U.S.A. Why? In other countries, (Asia, Europe) the way...

Excellent GPS, good screen - even in sunlight.

MSN Direct isn't available everywhere, and the music player only plays MP3 files.

A– Great touchscreen, good GPS. MSN Direct isn't available everywhere and not everyone will want to pay extra for that service.

Garmin StreetPilot C580 Review

The gang over at CNet have given their two cents worth on the new MSN connected Garmin model, this one being the Garmin StreetPilot C580 with MSN Direct. Their review borrows heavily from their original review of the StreetPilot C550, which it should...

Garmin StreetPilot c580 review

The Garmin StreetPilot c580 is the new flagship model in the StreetPilot line. It is nearly identical to the c550, except that it adds MSN Direct services (see coverage area), which it receives via FM radio signal. MSN Direct offers weather, movie...

great could not live without it

was lost in atl. ga. went got it on sale a year ago and have not been lost since. We travel atleast twice a month. It has not let us down yet. it may not alway choose the best route but it will get you there. It even finds parking lots shops ect....

easy to use, fast response, lots of extras, long batt. life

size very thick, and stores that may have closed or moved like wal-mart might be still in there

Waste of money and warranty is lousy.

This unit is poorly constructed and cannot survive daily use in an automobile. Might be great if you're going to use it once or twice a month, if you drive for a living, do yourself a favor and spend the money on a good set of maps, they won't leave...

When it worked it was great

Worked for 6 weeks and died, just a blank screen one morning

Lots of performance for a very low price

I have not actually used this product yet but have one on order. This review actually explains why I selected this unit over others after a very thorough review of wha's available. Updated on Dec 15, 2008

Fast, accurate Navigation. Also, uses MSN which is available in more areas than FM Traffic. Also, price at ********** was only $149 which is unbelievable for a GPS with all the features this one has

Only drawback I see is its physical size, particularly 2" depth, making it more difficult to put in a pocket than some other GPS units. I wish it had the FM transmit capability of the nuvi 660, but at nearly half the price who can compllain

Overall, Rather Impressive

I rented one of these devices while on vacation for a week, and I was really impressed! I had never used any kind of GPS before, but the button layout and ability to type in addresses was very simple. Consistently got me to my destination and helped me...

Fast recalculation, thorough knowledge of roads, simple menus

Gets confused frequently, recalculates more than necessary, hard to find Advanced options

Good for routine GPS tasks

For everyday "put in the address and give me directions" tasks, this works very well. The MSN functionality only works rarely, and the traffic information is pretty useless. The bluetooth works ok, but people I'm speaking to say the voice quality is...

Complete map/direction set

MSN functionality intermittent even in metro areas, starting process in parking garage can be frustrating, point of interest categorization
