MAGELLAN eXplorist 400 North America GPS Receiver

None

right hand third of the screen would randomly not display. ZERO support from Magellan. The product could not even be registered to receive support because they didn't recognize their own serial number

Not well designed, supported

We finally got this to GPS device to be recognized after a lengthy sequence of support calls. We bought this as a gift for my mother in law for mother's day. My wife's dad initially spent two hours with "technical" support trying to get the device up...

Seems to have decent accuracy ; small and light weight

Mostly useless software ; Poorly designed physical cable interface; it can be connected two ways, only one works. The intuitively obvious way of connecting it that is easier is actually wrong ; Miserable technical support; hampered by very poor...

Great deal from NewEgg

This is a great unit, midrange on price (low range with the deals from newegg) and perfect for the outdoor gps user. Limitless ability to handle map data thanx to SD card storage.

Convenient size ; Li-Ion Rechargeable battery ; SD card expansion ; Price

Color (why white?) ; Screen (there are some minor defects in the screen, but this does not affect any functionality)

Steer clear from Magellan Explorist 400

My husband bought me a Geocaching Bundle package which included the Magellan Explorist 400 at the end of September 2006. I had many problems in the four months which followed, which were complicated by the extremely dissatisfying customer service I...

Can't think of a thing good to say

Terrible lack of customer service- where is the service? Terrible user's manual

Does Not Work On a Network System

As a Geotechnical Engineering Group We purchased two units as a start up. We want the GPS to log location (POI) and download to the computer then add to the GIS data base.

Unit itself works well

Clumsy to use on home computer and does not work with Network System
