Magellan RoadMate 1200

It's no secret that people are tightening their purse strings this holiday season. Rather than considering a midrange or top-of-the line GPS model, for example, consumers may opt for a more basic device. The good news is that you can get a lot of bang...

Good value. Shares many of the features and user interface of more-expensive units. Multisegment routing

Small, 1.3 million-POI database. No text-to-speech

As an entry-level model, the Magellan RoadMate 1200 offers good value, but at $50 (list) more, the RoadMate 1212 is a significantly better deal.

Magellan RoadMate 1200

An intuitive, low-priced navigator that's a bit sluggish.

Simple, easy-to-use interface ; Trip planning with multiple waypoints ; Well-designed maps

Slow rerouting ; Small POI database ; Doesn't pronounce street names

Because of its weak POI database and sluggish rerouting, we wouldn’t recommend the RoadMate 1200 for those who need to depend on a GPS device every day. But if you need directions for the occasional longer trip, then the RoadMate is a good choice: It...

Magellan RoadMate 1200

At first glance, the Magellan RoadMate 1200 looks to be a good entry-level in-car GPS. It has a compact, no-fuss design that's perfect for first-time buyers, and you get the most essential navigation features for an affordable $199.99. Sounds good,...

The Magellan RoadMate 1200 offers a simple design and basic navigation features at an affordable price.

The RoadMate 1200 doesn't have text-to-speech functionality, and the system is sluggish with route calculations and recalculations. There are no pedestrian and bicycle routing modes.

Despite ease of use and an affordable price tag, the entry-level Magellan RoadMate 1200 portable navigation system suffers from various performance issues.

Magellan RoadMate 1200

Today we will take a look at a GPS unit that is fairly new to the market and has a low price tag: the Magellan RoadMate 1200. It does have a cheap price tag, but does it still have the features and performance that would make it worthwhile? Keep...

Today we got to take a look at the Magellan RoadMate 1200. It is one of the newest GPSes to hit the market and comes in towards the bottom in terms of price range. Just because it has a tiny price tag, it doesn't mean that it doesn't have worthwhile...

Magellan RoadMate 1200 review

The Magellan RoadMate 1200 seems like it was designed just to satisfy the market's demand for a low-end, entry level GPS. It has only 1.3 million points of interest (POIs), a 3.5" color touch-screen and comes pre-loaded with maps of the entire U.S....

Magellan RoadMate 1200 GPS Navigator

Maxell’s Encore EN-5 offer a rich, full sound for an affordable price, beating out nearly all of the headphones in the test. However, our testers didn’t think they were very comfortable, nor did this pair do a good job staying put during use....

Magellan RoadMate 1200

The Magellan RoadMate 1200 is a great choice for first-time-buyers who want to get a nice GPS unit for their car. The Magellan RoadMate 1200 is both affordable and useful and because it is a slimmed down version of some of Magellan's other models, it's...
