GPS Navigation: Magellan RoadMate 2000

The RoadMate 2000 is a good choice for the value-conscious consumer, but its menu system can be aggravating at times. Also, a number of new GPS products which cost about the same or less offer more features.

Sensitive Receiver. QuickSpell facilitates data input. Multisegment routing.

Some functions, such as finding the nearest gas station or changing map views take too many taps of the screen.

The RoadMate 2000 is a good choice for the value-conscious consumer, but its menu system can be aggravating at times. Also, a number of new GPS products which cost about the same or less offer more features.

Magellan RoadMate 2000 Review

So while Magellan has released their Maestro line, I had the opportunity to take a look at the Magellan RoadMate 2000 for a few weeks and I thought that it was still worth taking a look at the not terribly old RoadMate 2000 that is still kicking around...

Review: Magellan RoadMate 2000 GPS

Have you ever been lost while in a strange town, or even in your own town? I frequently have to go to new places. Usually, I just go online and print off a map and directions. Now, with Magellan RoadMate 2000, I can just hop in the car and go. The...

Magellan RoadMate 2000 Review

What a quarter this has been for GPS devices! The "Big Three" (Garmin, TomTom, & Magellan) have been releasing new devices at a dizzying pace; it's enough to make a consumer's head explode. GPSmagazine is there to sort out the good from the bad, and...

Magellan RoadMate 2000 review

I've been playing with a Magellan RoadMate 2000 for the past week or so, and have had a chance to put it through its paces. When Magellan announced the RoadMate 2000, 2200T, and 2500T, they highlighted the “crossover” nature of this product line — the...

Great Value

I have had no experience with any GPS systems and bought this one because of it's low price...I would recommend it to anyone

Great out of the box.....Easy to program. Although this was recertified it looked new out of the box. The maps are clear and easy on the eyes both day and night

Maps are a little dated from 2007, no different voice selections for Text 2 speech

Magellan Roadmate 2000

It does work great and the price can't be beat.. You don't need written instructions as the CD video explains all.. Thanks Newegg...

I purchased this GPS for my wife. Gave the old Garmin away because she couldn't figure out how to work it and it only had room for three states. Not a problem with the Roadmate touch screen with I think 48 states and the price was great. I would highly...

It seems to need updating and I haven't done that yet.. Others say there is a charge for updating but I don't know that for a fact yet. Out of all the addresses I searched only one couldn't be found which was a new street just built in 2005

works well but...

I'm very disappointed in the high cost of map updates, not to mention that there is no way to tell what has been updated or even how current the update is without buying it. In all honesty, if I looked into the cost of the update first, I most likely...

This is the first GPS that I have ever owned, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but it seems to me that it works quite well. I was able to use it to easily get to several destinations. It gives clear visual and audible ques on when to...

The maps have to be at least two years old. I found myself driving in no man's land (according to the GPS) several times the first day I used it. Magellan charges $80.00 for the map update, which is more than what I paid for this GPS. (I got the shell...
