Garmin nuvi 265T

Given the current state of the economy, not everyone has the budget to spring for a GPS device. Fortunately, last fall Garmin revamped both its entry-level nüvis in the 200 series as well as its midlevel offerings in the 700 series. I took a look at...

Includes maps for the U.S. and Canada. Text-to-speech. Lifetime free traffic. ecoRoute feature can save you money on gasoline

No multisegment routing or Lane Assist. Bluetooth interface didn't read contacts/call history

The Garmin nüvi 265T offers a lot of bang for the buck, including free traffic updates and features for smart spenders.

Garmin Nuvi 265T GPS Device

The Nuvi 265T packs in the features--so many that its 3.5-inch screen feels small.

Includes lifetime traffic service ; Lots of extras, like hands-free calling

3.5-inch screen seems small

The Nuvi 265T lists for $300, but you can find it for about $275 online. That's a reasonable price for a full-featured GPS--especially when you factor in the lifetime traffic service

Garmin nuvi 265T Review

Garmin nuvi 265T reviewed by ConsumerSearch, which notes pros and cons, along with reviews and ratings for the Garmin nuvi 265T and comparisons to other Auto GPS

Free traffic information for life; Speaks street names; Fast routing, mapping and satellite lock; More intuitive than older Garmin nuvis

Free traffic alerts aren't available everywhere; Onscreen advertising; Fewer advanced features than pricier models; Not widescreen

Garmin nuvi 265T review

The Garmin nüvi 265T is one of the second-generation nuvi 2×5 series models; I dubbed the first generation the "best entry level GPS on the market." This newer series offers more mid-line features though — in addition to everything that made the...

Garmin 265T GPS Navigator

Maxell’s Encore EN-5 offer a rich, full sound for an affordable price, beating out nearly all of the headphones in the test. However, our testers didn’t think they were very comfortable, nor did this pair do a good job staying put during use....

Slow-to-refresh display; Garmin won't transfer maps

Don't get suckered by low prices. Consider Motorola MotoNav, TomTom XL series, or Magellan Roadmate. Be sure to check their policies on purchased map transfers. Considering that smartphones are gradually rendering them irrelevant you'd think they'd be...

Cheap. Bluetooth OK but a pain to dig through menus if used with more than 1 phone, sometimes freezes

Display refreshes are slow - chunky and late - you've passed a street before it caches up. Garmin's purchased map policies are TERRIBLE. GPSs get lost or stolen: Say you purchase Europe map. It's registered online. Can u transfer to new Garmin? NO

Garmin nüvi 265T Automobile Navigator

This device was released for Q3 in 2008 and there are some nice advances over prior models. One major one is that it includes the traffic receiver and it comes with lifetime traffic service. Many of the less expensive models from Garmin and others do...

Garmin nüvi 265T Automobile Navigator

Compared to my old StreetPilot the map is difficult to follow and the voice instructions are late and often take a confusing form such as 'Turn left and then turn left' - especially when one navigating complex urban areas. The traffic works but...

Traffic feature works

Poor routing, poorly integrated traffic information
