Nextar Snap3

Nextar is just the latest company to join the burgeoning category of portable navigation systems and, on paper, its Nextar Snap3 in-car GPS looks to be a steal. For about $200, you get a compact GPS device with text-to-speech functionality, integrated...

The Nextar Snap3 portable navigation system features a compact design and offers text-to-speech functionality, integrated Bluetooth, and multimedia capabilities.

The Nextar Snap3 is sluggish, and the system froze on one occasion. Satellite acquisition can be erratic.

The Nextar Snap3 may look good on paper with an admirable feature set and affordable price tag, but road tests prove this GPS device to be a dud.

OK product, terrible service

I've had the product less than a year. They have obsoleted my model, which is fine, all manufacturers need to renew their product offering, but they now refuse to provide updated maps or service for the product. Upgraded maps used to be available. The...

The product is OK for a basic GPS. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it also wasn't that expensive

My problem is their service

No updates available unless you pay $70

I bought this 12/07, used it as needed (not a whole lot) and it just died on me-9/10! Shouldn't happen that quickly for the amount of money it cosst.

Lanes/turns are good. If you go off course (when you know part of the waay) it will adjust directions but sometimes she nags for awhile first

Computer voice mispronounces street names & has a lisp!! Unable to update maps. GPS recognition is slow during startup sometimes as much as 5 minutes

The maps are 8 years out of date.

I paid for a product that was advertised as being up to date. The maps in the product are severly out of date. This GPS product is missing entire subdivisions that have been in existence for ten years. Nextars customer service is sadly lacking in...

The screen is large

The maps are 8 to 10 years out of date. Nextar does not have any up dates available. Their solution is to send the product in with $ 149.00 to get a newer product

For the money I spent it should actually work

It doesn't work

I really don't like anything about it

I don't like that it is always searching for a signal it hasn't worked since I bought it. I am returning it this week

Please don't throw your money away on this unit.

This unit gave us incorrect directions on a number of occasions before we sent it back for replacement or repair. Customer service has given my husband, a coworker of mine, and me completely different answers about map updates every time we have...

The unit looks attractive

This is a very undependable unit. It may be cheap (although mine cost me over $200 in January 2007) but it isn't worth the money when you can't get updates and your preloaded map software can be 1 to 6 years old depending upon the unit

Cheap gps you get what you pay for

It is basically useless because it is not updatable or you cannot use anywhere except the USA and this comes from nextar thereselves who tell you on their website it is possible to get upgrades etc but thast is a complete lie as the only unit which can...

Nothing I can think off

The unit is only usable in the USA cannot be updated so after a couple of months it is useless. No additional maps available so cannot use abroad. You buy this at your peril as other gps systems will do all of the above
