This portable GPS device is solid, but it isn't quite on a par with competing models from TomTom and Magellan.

Big 4.3-inch screen ; Easy to use

No lane assistance ; Lacks refinements found on high-end GPS devices

While the Nextar Q4-md lacks some of its competitors' refined features--such as automatic route overviews and lane assistance--it's still a solid choice for a portable GPS device

Nextar Q4

want a sprawling 4.3-incher. Thanks to major dips in GPS prices across the board, though, you can find a more fully featured device for the price of an entry-level model a year agoif you're willing to take a chance on a product from a little-known...

Excellent value. Simple menu system. Text-to-speech conversion

Limited routing options. Relatively small (1.6-million-entry) POI database. No vehicle profiles, live traffic, or Bluetooth

The Nextar Q4 offers the features of a midlevel GPS, packing a 4.3-inch screen, solid navigational prowess, and text-to-speech functionalityall at an entry-level price.

Nextar I4-BC

Jack of all trades and master of none” seems to be an apt cliché for this hastily put together GPS unit from budget manufacturer Nextar. The system's feature list and low price are sure to draw plenty of attention, but its thin engineering seems to...

Affordable price; accurate GPS; functional backup camera; lots of accessories

Poor media player; cheap internal speakers; confusing interface; hard to mount; poor layout

Ease of use, an abominable windshield mount, and blisteringly bad audio were all sore spots for this system.

Review: Nextar Q4-MD GPS

This portable GPS device is solid, but it isn't quite on a par with competing models from TomTom and Magellan.

The Q4-MD’s features include a 4.3-inch touch screen, Tele Atlas maps of the United States (all 50 states) and Canada, a Point of Interests (POI) database with 1.6 million entries, a year’s subscription to the MSN Direct service (which costs $50 per...

Nextar I4-BC GPS Navigation System

GPS or Global Positioning Service is one of the most useful free services out there, and the best part is it is available as the name implies globally. These small devices are tremendously useful and the only cost to the consumer is the initial...

In conclusion, the NEXTAR had a very noble attempt at creating what seed like the prefect GPS. However, the I4-BC fell short in a couple of critical points. With a hefty price tag of $204.99 form this GPS unit face some stiff...

Review: Nextar I4-BC GPS

I am a GPS nut, and  I have been since I won my first one, a Garmin GPS-12 at the Dayton Hamvention as a door prize.  That Garmin had no maps in it, but fortunately it's almost unheard of to not have included maps on a GPS unit these days.  So what...

The Nextar Q-4 is a player in the third tier of GPS units, and sells for a discount at stores online. The unit certainly is good enough to get you there, and the interface, speed of satellite acquisition, and design is much improved over what I saw...

Barely Functional.

Bought it because I was in a city that doesn't have a grid layout. Started out fine. Then, after being told to go "5.5 miles," the voice turned itself off. I discovered this after going 7 or so miles. Then I got stuck in a loop where it had me going...

For the most part, it got me where I wanted to go

Outdated maps. Outdated speed limits. Randomly turned the voice off. Got stuck in a loop. Did not find "nearest" points-of-interest readily
