Pioneer AVIC-U310BT

Pioneer's goal with the AVIC-U310BT, the entry-level model in its AVIC in-dash navigation line, was to meet the three major needs: GPS navigation, digital audio playback, and Bluetooth hands-free calling.

The Pioneer AVIC-U310BT supports digital audio playback from USB storage devices, MP3 players, and iPods. The hands-free calling feature automatically imports contacts form a paired phone. The touch screen is detachable and powered, for destination...

The preloaded point-of-interest library is severely limited. Multiple menu sources make it hard to find the parameter you want to change. No video playback options.

The Pioneer AVIC-U310BT isn't perfect, but it meets most people's needs for navigation, hands-free calling, and digital audio playback at a very affordable price.

Pioneer AVIC-U310BT Review - Car GPS (Navigation)

I have had the device for a year and was generally pleased at the beginning. The 310BT has lots of interesting features and it seemed to work very well. However, it is very annoying when it hangs as it can take a while for it to "come alive". It seems...

good sound quality

intermittent GPS hangs

Pioneer AVIC-U310BT Review - Car GPS (Navigation)

Over all I am very pleased with AVIC-u310bt. If you want a stereo with navigation, bluetooth and ipod controls that are easy to use and and woln't break the bank this is the unit to buy. A lot of folks talk about the bugs in the system but as long as...

imports your phone contacts easily, easy navigation, good ipod control

lack of POI's, unless you buy the $100.00 sd card from pioneer which negates the initial savings.lack of audio setting for the stereo

Pioneer AVIC-U310BT Review - Car GPS (Navigation)

nothing beats the price when you add up all the features of this unit... it really looks great in my Mazda Protege5 and it cleaned up the clutter on my dash a lot. My Garmin now resides in my glovebox.

got rid of my bluetooth wireless, and GPS unit which makes for a clutter-free dashboard. The GPS maps are great but I would highly recommend purchasing the additional POI data for $100. Bluetooth function works flawlessly

doesn't look like the maps are upgradable for now, so I'm hopping that Pioneer will provide this option later. I originally thought the detachable face plate was an independent GPS unit I could use in my truck... so I'm a bit disappointed

Pioneer AVIC-U310BT Review - Car GPS (Navigation)

Bottom line, I'm glad I got the unit. It's cheap but good at what it's meant to do. Did I mention that it's cheap?

Provided you've updated it to the latest firmware, the unit works very well. Navigation is as good as any other device I've used, and I've used many. Sound quality is surprisingly good as well

The piano black finish doesn't match any interior I know of. Without the firmware update (available free from Pioneer's website), it's buggy. Navigating to something as simple as "pause" is a pain. Clicky feeling in the buttons

Pioneer AVIC-U310BT Review - Car GPS (Navigation)

Basically I bought this unit as a head unit for XM radio. I needed a double din unit for a factory install that I was having removed from a truck and didn't really want a filler plate. Personally I thought I'd get more use out of a GPS than a dvd...

Double din

No mute button
