TomTom Go 6000 review

With more people slipping a smartphone into their pocket, and most now offering free turn-by-turn navigation, TomTom is having to evolve to keep customers interested in personal navigation devices. Is the big-screen TomTom Go 6000 the high-end answer?

Great European mapping, integrated lifetime traffic, 6-inch display may suit those with a larger cockpit

It feels too big for a regular sized car

TomTom Go 6000 review

Probably the finest sat nav in the world…

Great screen ; Lifetime traffic data ; Excellent routing ; Intuitive interface ; Solid mounting

It's expensive ; Chassis looks a little cheap ; Only 3 months camera data

The TomTom Go 6000 is an impressive piece of kit. The interface is intuitive, with TomTom's excellent routing benefiting from being able to draw on live traffic data to make for incredibly accurate journey times as well.

TomTom GO 6000 review

In an age of smartphones and tablets, can the the dedicated satnav device survive? Read our TomTom GO 6000 review to find out

Cleaner quicker new interface ; Responsive capacitive screen ; Same old mapping excellence

It's a bit pricey ; Non-standard USB on device ; Charge for speed camera data

TomTom's premium sat-nav is very hard to fault

Lifetime TomTom traffic with built-in mobile data ; Lifetime European map updates ; Redesigned menu interface

Misses some features from previous premium TomToms ; LIVE services only include traffic and speed camera updates ; Speed camera updates still require an annual subscription

The menu is so different with the GO 6000 and 500 that you'd be forgiven for thinking this was a product from an entirely new manufacturer. It takes a little while to get used to the fact that you use an icon rather than a tap anywhere on the screen to...

GOing nowhere

I have the Tom Tom 640 and it recently just stopped working. And stayed like that for around 3 weeks and then all of a sudden it started working again. Then of course I had to update it. Arrrrggghhhh!!!!

No Go

All the Tom Tom GO sat navs suffer the same problems. Safety cameras just stop showing up, the voice directions stop for no apparent reason, speed limits are just plain wrong in many cases, they take for ever to update. Absolutely terrible product,...
