TomTom GO 630 Review

The TomTom GO 630 is one of the more popular devices from the TomTom stable. It has a 4.3-inch display and is a fairly inexpensive device with some high end features. The TomTom Go 630 is rated highly by both users and reviewers elsewhere. Read on to...

TomTom GO 630

The TomTom GO 630 is essentially the GO 730 minus a few audio features; the 630 drops the FM transmitter, the MP3 player and iPod connectivity.

The TomTom GO 630 sports a 4.3" touch screen, maps of the U.S. and Canada, along with text-to-speech. The latter feature means that you’ll hear "turn left on Oak Street" rather than just "turn left in 1/4 mile." It also includes TomTom’s Map Share...

Not As Good As Advertised

I was very excited to get this GPS unit, however, the excitement did not last long.

One of the best

This is my second TomTom GPS. Re-certified units come with updated maps and a free map upgrade. Don't use your map upgrade right away. Save it. If you're new to GPS Units, turn you unit's direction talk back thingy down to a very low volume. It's...

This can't be much of a review. All I can say is that it works and it works better than my Garmin ever did

I can't think of any. Oh yeah. One con - No GPS thingy is perfect. A friend of mine says that her TomTom has an attitude

The Great and the Bad

If I had to buy again I would buy a similar model without the bluetooth and perhaps save a few bucks. I got this (new, not refurb) at such a great price at another online retailer (about $130) that the bluetooth issue doesn't bother me.

Basic GPS functions are outstanding. Very accurate voice guidance and route calculation. Easy to use menu system. Very intuitive. Auto zoom at turning points. Millions of POI's. Bright screen. If you want great navigation you won't be disappointed with...

Bluetooth compatibility is spotty. I easily got it to connect to my ATT Samsung Impression first try and was able to make/receive calls. I could not get the data connection to work at all - the impression is not compatible. On subsequent attempts to...

Happy

For those having problems with bluetooth, consider that it just might be your phone causing the problem. My TT pairs well with Motorola, Nokia and LG, but have problems with Blackberry.

Has features that work, period. I compared one side by side with a G....n. Tom Tom was much more accurate. Have no experience with other brands. No reason to, I'm happy with TT. And plan to buy another just as soon as I find the XXL 550TM at the price...

TomTom GO 630

nice sized screen; the lane feature is great

Verizon Wireless Blackberry 9630 - I have so many problems getting the bluetooth to work with it. I will get it to connect; then eventually it will lose the connection. For some reason I can't get the wireless net connection to set up right. If someone...

Great Product

My house is on the corner of three streets so while at home my routes vary between starting on one of them. You can hook up the unit to your stereo system if you have an audio in port. However, the unit would not play music from my phone, this one...

Very fast re-routing if you go off-course. POI menu is easily to navigate and has a TON of free downloads from users and businesses. Fan is extremely quiet. Help options are very detailed and I have already customized my startup screen and car icon...

Voice input for street names can be difficult while driving, the mic reception seems prone to wind and street interference when trying to input with the windows down. Pairing my phone to the unit was error prone until I got my first set of updates from...

Perfect GPS

Make sure you call live TomTom support for guidance on updating the map. The live rep was outstanding while talking me through some steps that I wouldn't have known; however I did know enough to call TomTom. I could always reach a live rep easily and...

I've read some bad reviews here and maybe I got lucky but this GPS system is totally outstanding. TomTom's telephone support is as good as it gets. No problem reaching a live rep every time I tried. The map update went fine and bluetooth works great....
