TomTom GO 740 Live review: TomTom GO 740 Live

When we spoke with TomTom's representatives concerning the new GO 740 Live, the navigation device was described as offering a "God's-eye view" of the road. Now, the GO isn't omniscient, but it gets pretty close with its three-pronged approach to...

The TomTom GO 740 Live is the manufacturer's first connected-GPS device, offering up-to-the-minute traffic data, weather forecasts, fuel prices, and Local Search powered by Google. Map Share and IQ Routes technologies allow map data to be updated more...

Route calculations are slow, particularly from a moving vehicle. High entry cost only includes three months of service.

The TomTom GO 740 Live puts a tremendous amount of information at your fingertips and makes it easy to access and process it all from the driver's seat.

TomTom GO 740 LIVE

The GO 740 LIVE automatically delivers the latest traffic, weather, and fuel price information directly to your dashboard.

Integrated data connection for live traffic updates, weather, and fuel information and Google Local Search. TomTom's free Map Share helps keeps your maps up-to-date. IQ Routes. Advanced lane guidance.

Live services require a monthly subscription after three-month trial period expires. Many voice functions also require touch-screen input. Relatively small internal POI database.

TomTom GO 740 LIVE review

TomTom refuses to rest on its market-share laurels, and so we have another iteration of the best-selling and award-winning Go range. This 740 is the middle of three x40 versions, and gets UK and European maps. The 540 has UK maps, with the option to...

TomTom GO 740 Live Europe 32 review

High-priced, but feature-packed and one of the best sat-nav devices we've seen

Full maps of Europe ; Large screen

LIVE features cost more

A good sat-nav but those wanting this device for the extras should be aware of the additional costs attached

TomTom Go 740 Live UK & W. Europe

It does as stated and with the Live have allready saved time delay from traffic holdup Phone handfree is also very good and easy to recieve calls with one touch of the screen I avoid sending calls on the move.

I drive a C-max a small MPV windsceen mounting is out of arms reach unless mounted up by the rear view mirror. ( all vans etc must be similar.) I had to purchase seperatly a dash board mounting disc.
