TomTom Via 1535 review: TomTom Via 1535

TomTom's entry-level Via line is looking a lot like last year's top of the line. The Via 1535 TM that arrived for testing featured a large screen, Bluetooth, and voice command to go with its lifetime of map and traffic updates.

The thin-bodied TomTom Via 1535 has a more secure EasyPort connection than previous generations. Bluetooth hands-free calling and voice command enhance driver safety. Traffic data and IQ Routes technology actually helped us to avoid traffic jams.

While much easier to use than in earlier versions, TomTom's interface can still be a bit confusing to learn your way around for the first time. Traffic info doesn't cover surface and secondary roads.

The TomTom Via 1535 TM offers many features and services to increase driver safety and routing efficiency.

TomTom VIA 1605 TM GPS ($150 - $199) Review

With so many people using good smartphone GPS turn-by-turn navigation apps, there are still good reasons why dedicated car GPS devices can be the best choice for frequent business or leisure travelers. There's the large screen (in the case of this...

TomTom Via 1605 TM

The VIA 1605 TM has a large screen size that is just shy of obnoxious, and the resolution has been upgraded to near-HD quality, but the plastic resistive screen hinders the improvements. This GPS navigator has many of the basic features we looked for,...

The screen size makes the display easy to see, and this model comes with lifetime map and traffic updates

This device does not have a multitouch-capable capacitive screen, and it lacks Bluetooth

The VIA 1605 TM has an impressive screen size and resolution, but the plastic resistive screen limits its functionality. This model has basic features but lacks some of the more advanced features, such as Bluetooth and speech access.

Great GPS

First GPS owned. But can't imagine spending two to three times more on another one that wouldn't give you anything that would warrant that increase in price.

Has everything you need in a GPS for a great price.

None, as of this writing.

Lives up to its name brand.

The instructions are very good but realistically there will be times where it gets confusing and you should never depend 100% on a GPS you have to use your common sense too. My last Tom Tom was literally a dum dum but this model lives up to its name. I...

Unlimited maps, unlimited traffic, ease of use, nice big interface. Overall best GPS I've used in some years. It's fast to pick up satellite, ready to go in seconds versus minutes on some other models I've used. Once you create your TomTom account it...

None that I come to mind

tom tom GPS 1535

Works pretty well, updates sometime are a pain but can be dealt with by a reset, the only real problem is volume on the bluetooth is not loud enough and it is difficult to hear when driving on a highway. There are lots of features that require user...

Handy Piece of Equipment

Has lots of options and features that are very helpful. Sometimes the map has been inaccurate, but there is a feature that allows you to make corrections. Also, you can submit these corrections on the TomTom website and get access to corrections other...

The Tom Tom worked great for getting us around a big city we didn't know very well. I will be using it whenever we go to new places.
