TomTom Navigator 5

With great mapping features and advanced services, TomTom's latest navigation kit for PDAs and smart phones approaches GPS greatness.

Gorgeous maps, especially on high-res PDAs; free TomTom Plus service fetches traffic and map updates; many on-device tips and tutorials; plans routes for walkers and cyclists.

Limited smart-phone compatibility; some Bluetooth-related wrinkles; no AC adapter for charging GPS receiver; TomTom Plus requires smart phone; manual covers software only.

TomTom 5 Navigator

TomTom have finally updated their PDA version with the new "Core" software and like a certain Dutch beer it's just taken a little bit longer.

If you don't know where you're going it should get you in the general area, but it also may totally mislead you. It once wanted me to do a U-turn on a highway over a concrete median. It often wants you to go the wrong way down a one-way street.

Works on a Pocket PC & a cell phone for the same price

Maps - in spite of what they say - are not that accurate. Lots of "Unnamed Street"s & lots of wrong directions

When it worked, it was great. But I could not count on it. Too tempermental. Sometimes it would work, or with enough reboots of it and PDA, I could get it to work. Not consistent. Back to printing directions ahead of time.

Usually accurate, gives enough warning, clear

Often will not acquire satellites, when I know I should be able to get 7-13 at any time. Maps now horrifically outdated, and no way to update (have to buy new GPS, which won't work with old PDA--so double update required!)

I was suckered into buying this product in 2005 when I paid $250 USD, and was not told at the time that there would be no map updates available. Now three years later, the maps are so outdated that the product is virtually useless!

Easy to use, handy software for Palm Tx

Total lack of customer support; uncaring customer service personnel, completely outdated product with no updates or remedy

I BOUGHT MAPS FOR PARIS AND LONDON. TOM TOM WOULD NOT CONNECT AND WAS WORTHLESS IN BOTH CITIES. IF I WAS IN AN OPEN FIELD IT WOULD FIND THE CONNECTION BUT LET ME GO INTO BUILDINGS AND IT LOST IT. WHAT GOOD IS IT IF YOU CAN'T USE IT IN THE BIG CITIES. I...

EXCELLENT IN OPEN SPACES

NOT GOOD IN BIG CITIES

I am shocked that they are still selling this product even though the latest maps you can get are 2005. Buy Navigator 6

Fast Software, good for the year 2005

No map updates...ever... do you need any more

No Complaints

My family and I have tried almost all of the currently available (Feb-06) PDA navigation software. Microsofts Pocket Streets is the most up to date reliable maps, but tomtom has the best in-car directions I've seen. Navigator came close in...

Great voice prompts (much less annoying than navigator and also more concise). The 3d mode is impressive (only on VGA screens however) and I just haven't had any problems with it

Sometimes, there's a little too much stylus taps required in changing POIs or options

Mediocre gps mapping software at a premium price

I received Navigator 5 two weeks ago, loaded into a Dell X50V pda.The first thing I noticed was a limited number of points of interest and outdated maps. For a $125.00 and the hype associated with it I expected better. The maps are loaded by...

Good graphics
