Garmin Forerunner 15 review: sports watch first, fitness tracker second

As the reviews editor for this tech blog, I often get asked which fitness tracker I own. And I tell people: I don't need one, silly; I run marathons. May

Long battery life ; Fair price, considering the feature set ; Includes step tracking, allowing it to double as a basic fitness tracker ; Compatible with heart rate monitors ; Waterproof

No wireless syncing ; Doesn't automatically track sleep ; App doesn't offer much motivation ; Because it's more of a running watch than fitness tracker, you won't necessarily want to wear it every day

For about the same price as an entry-level running watch, the Forerunner offers all the usual running features, plus step tracking so you can monitor your activity between workouts. It's a good buy for runners who need a sports watch, and would prefer...

Garmin Forerunner 15

Garmin is one seriously trusted name among data-loving athletes, and its Forerunner 15 is the best hybrid sports watch-activity tracker we've tested. The price is right, too.

Expertly designed runner's watch. Great price. Includes step tracking for daily activity monitoring. Clear display. Long battery life, and rechargeable. Includes GPS. Waterproof up to 50m. Simple navigation. Rich data analysis via website. Optional...

Overtly sporty design means you might not want to wear it 24/7. Doesn't track sleep. Can't sync directly with phones

When runners ask me what's the best activity tracker to count their daily steps, I usually counter with another question: "Do you also want pace, heart rate, lap times, and other running stats?" When they say yes, I now have a clear answer: Get the...

Garmin Forerunner 15

This is a watch with the ability to count your steps and even with the aid of the chest strap provided also check your heart rate during exercise. So apart from using satellite technology why has this company diversified into this area.

If your car has a Sat Nav it is quite likely that it could be a Garmin. These days this market is contracting as most recent Smart Phones can offer this feature so other markets have to be tested. While I was happy to test this device my first question...

Garmin Forerunner 15: a Good GPS Fitness Watch With Room to Improve [REVIEW]

At $169, the Garmin Forerunner 15 is on the low-end of the GPS-enabled fitness tracker spectrum, but that price comes with a few sacrifices.

GPS functionality ; Lightweight and rugged ; Good info via Garmin Connect

No Bluetooth functionality ; Heart-rate monitor requires an add-on ; Aesthetic

At $169, the Forerunner is on the low-end of the GPS-enabled fitness tracker spectrum, but that price comes with a few sacrifices.

Good for running less than 6 hours

I love the Garmin for it's features and size. It's best used if it is fully charged and you run under 6 hours. This was tested in mountainous areas which probably does more searching than in open spaces so the battery may go a bit longer in those...

Good product for a runner

I upgraded from Nike+ to the Garmin hoping for an increase in accuracy. The Garmin is definitely more accurate on distance. It can be hit or miss on elevation gain. For example, in running the same 3.5 mile route twice, the distance traveled differed...
