Magellan Switch Up and Heart-Rate Monitor

Magellan, manufacturer of portable navigation devices, gets into the wrist-wear business with the Switch series. These wristwatch-shaped activity monitors aren't very good at telling the time, but they are great for monitoring a host of parameters...

The Magellan Switch series allows users to monitor their outdoor activities with GPS data. Compatibility with ANT+ fitness monitors adds to the Switch's flexibility. Waterproof, rugged construction allows the unit to take a beating and be submerged up...

Data isn't automatically saved at power-down, requiring a manual save and reset at the end of every activity. The Switch buries the time under a menu, even when the device isn't in use, somewhat limiting its usefulness as a timepiece.

Rugged, waterproof, and, most importantly, accurate, the Magellan Switch series is a good GPS and ANT+ monitoring option for amateur to enthusiast athletes.

Magellan Switch Up GPS watch

This GPS watch is designed to record multiple activities and can also measure heart rate, but it's not great

Heart rate monitor ; Usable for multiple activities

Unreliable GPS signal ; Inaccurate distances ; Heavy and bulky to wear on the wrist

While the idea of a multi-sport watch is nice, the Magellan Switch Up GPS watch didn't perform to expectations in our tests. It was uncomfortable to wear, too hard to use and its data had a tendency to be inaccurate.

Magellan Switch Up

Magellan's Switch Up sports watch with heart rate monitor is an excellent companion for those participating in everyday fitness workouts or athletes trying to scrape a few seconds off their personal bests.

Packed full of features; highly sensitive GPS; solid battery life with quick recharge

Data must be manually saved; removing the watch from mounts can be difficult

The Magellan Switch Up is a fantastic choice for those exercising outdoors. Swimmers, mountain bikers, runners and cyclists would all benefit from the huge array of data the Switch Up records.

I can fly across neighborhoods now!

Accuracy is horrible, it has be running diagonally through entire city blocks and buildings. I understand being a few feet off but this watch will trail off several hundred bouncing back and forth throwing your numbers off.

Good set of tools but horrible accuracy

I purchased this due to the offer of many useful functions and as a cheap alternative to the Garmin 910xt. I figured Magellan being one of the original pioneers of the GPS, how could I go wrong?I later learned even after the most recent updates my pace...

Every feature a triathlete could ask for

reliability and accuracy are almost non-existent

Great price but at a cost

At first I was excited to receive this new device. Being an active person who regularly competes in triathlons, this watch promised everything I needed as far as features. Unfortunately the accuracy of this watch (even after the most recent upgrade) is...

Plenty of features useful for all triathletes

Accuracy is horrible
