Nvidia GeForce GTX 460

Now that it's offering a much fuller selection of cards, Nvidia would seem to be back in the game. But a lot depends on the GTX 460's price and performance, and how they stack up to AMD's formidable offerings.

GTX 460 GPU results in top performance for the price. Short enough to fit practically any desktop case. Ample overclocking headroom

GPU changes alter relationship between textures and shading, and may impact performance in some situations. Does not support 3-Way SLI

It took Nvidia a while to take the lead with video cards using its new Fermi architecture, but now the company has—in a big way. This card offers competitive performance and pricing to AMD's ATI Radeon HD 5830.

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 1GB

Cool, quiet, and great value for gamers.

The Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB avoids the pitfalls of the GF100 card release, such as high power consumption, high temperatures, and high noise levels we saw in the GTX 480. Interestingly, the 460 manages to essentially render the 465 obsolete...

Nvidia GeForce GTX 460

With plenty of horsepower to drive demanding games on 24-inch and smaller monitors, this speedy, quiet, and cool-running video card is a price-conscious gamer's dream come true.

Very fast for its price class; extremely quiet; short length is good for tight cases

Requires two six-pin power connectors; blocks an adjacent slot

When Nvidia released its first Fermi-GPU powered cards earlier this year, enthusiasts began to wonder if the company had lost too much ground to ATI. After all, though the GTX 470 and 480 were admirably fast, they also hit the market much later than...

Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 1 GB Graphics Card Review

As we have expected, GeForce GTX 465, which we have reviewed previously, did become an intermediate solution. It gave way to true Nvidia fighters intending to restore parity with AMD in the segment of affordable gaming solutions priced around $200....

What can we say about the new graphics processor from Nvidia after checking it out in our tests? First off, we can repeat our thought that this GPU is what the GF100 should have been. A relatively inexpensive but comparable to the ATI RV870 Cypress in...

Pretty impressive for a chip that’s still manufactured at 40 nm and is comprised of fewer than two billion transistors, right? Though perhaps not as impressive as what AMD has done with its two billion-transistor Cypress—we'll have to check out the...
