Crucial m4 - solid state drive - review

Crucial m4

The Crucial m4 solid-state drive is competitively priced and offers fast performance. The drive supports SATA 6Gbps and works in all SATA-based storage applications.

The Crucial m4's performance could be better comparatively, and it doesn't come with a drive-bay converter to work with desktop computers.

So far, the Crucial m4 offers the best value among SSDs. Though it's not the fastest, it's by far the most affordable among its peers.

Crucial m4 mSATA 256GB SSD Review

As our technology advances, consumers continually demand more from manufactures. Make it faster, make it lighter, make it smaller, and of course do it all at the same time. You would think that we would have hit a limit by now, or at least slowed down,...

Crucial M4 SSD 128GB Review

Nothing gets my cooling fans going like a new hard drive! With that, I have yet to hop on the SSD wagon, until now. I have resisted as long as possible because even though the benchmarks were there, the prices just were not. Crucial thinks they can...

Crucial m4 256GB SATA 6Gbit/s SSD Review

It's been a while since we last took a look at a Crucial product, so for the next one, how about we make it interesting? SSDs aren't uncommon, but high-end SSDs that don't feature a SandForce controller are - and of course, that's what makes Crucial's...

The Crucial m4 is an interesting SSD. It is the highest performing drive we have tested that doesn't rely on real-time file compression to achieve high levels of performance. Or to put it another way, there's only two other SSDs that can deliver actual...

Crucial m4 256GB SSD Review

We have in our labs the 256GB version of the Crucial m4 SSD or RealSSD C400, as it is better known by OEM and Crucial's distribution customers. The Crucial m4 SSD product line incorporates Micron's 25-nanometer (nm) NAND flash technology (synchronous...

Crucial has an ace up its sleeve, and that's price. The m4 is priced well below the SandForce drives. The 256GB version is currently available online for $420 (version with no backup software included) while for the retail version of the OCZ Vertex 3...

Hands-on: The Crucial M4 SSD boosts read and write performance

A new generation of SSDs is faster and less expensive than its predecessors.

Faster than previous generation; competitive pricing

More expensive than larger-capacity mechanical disk drives

Crucial's M4 has significantly increased the performance gap between it and the previous generation of SSDs. And by pushing write performance -- for video capture and editing, graphical imaging, etc. -- the M4 provides an economical option for...

Crucial m4 256GB SSD (C400) Review

During the last generation of SSDs when the majority of models were limited to SATA 2 speeds there was one manufacturer who was pushing the boundaries with a SATA 3 model and that company was Crucial. Their C300 drive was easily the fastest drive...

Crucial M4 review

Crucial has been selling SSDs to consumers for longer than almost anyone, and it's evidently got the art of producing good-value drives finely honed. The 128GB version of its M4 drive costs just £83, which works out at a low 64p per gigabyte.

A middling performer that’s made into a tempting buy thanks to an extremely low price and good value throughout

Crucial M4 review

The Crucial M4 is set to usurp even last year's best SSD, the Crucial RealSSD C300. Read our lab results to see why - UPDATED 27 JULY 2011

From the lab tests, the Crucial M4 displays clear improvements over the Crucial C300 – in most key respects. The headline-grabbing speeds are indisputably superior, up to 438MB/s read speeds in our tests and 281MB/s when writing. Small file transfer...

Review: Crucial M4 mSATA 256GB SSD

We've seen a lot of mSATA SSDs before, but they've out of reach to a lot of consumers. But fear not ... Crucial is now making their mSATA SSDs mainstream and widely available. We take a closer look at their M4 mSATA 256GB SSD.

Big capacity in a small size ; Good speed in a small size ; Decent price for the above

Price seems a bit high given the SF based SSDs only slightly more expensive

I was excited to test something new and different (for me, anyway) in the SSD world with this tiny little mSATA drive. What I found has thoroughly impressed me, Crucial has somehow managed to cram full sizes SSD speeds and capacity into a drive smaller...
