Caveat Required

This is a standard usb 2 drive. Speed is typical for usb 2. It looks and acts like all the other Fantom external drives they sell with the exception that it also has an eSata socket.

This is just one of several Fantom drives I own. I does what it's supposed to do, store files

It seems lately that HD manufacturers believe they do not need to make hard drives compatible in the FAT-32 format as like the other formats as they once did. I bought this drive specifically because I thought I could re-format it as a FAT-32 drive as...

Good but...

Fantom's RMA process is a bit different from the typical. You create a "Trouble Ticket" to explain the problem and wait for a response, rather than submit an RMA request. However, Fantom was quick to respond and an RMA was issued within 2 business...

I have purchased 8 Fantom external drives, 4 of which are the GreenDrive Pro 2TB USB 2.0/eSATA variety (GDP2000EU), in the past 4 years. They are proven themselves to be pretty reliable, especially given the relatively low cost. They are very quite...

The only issue I have with this particular purchase is that one of the two "GreenDrives" ordered was a "spare", which I only recently (3/2/13) opened to discover that it was DOA, right out of the box. So, I've had to request an RMA for that unit

Died after a year and a half

Solid construction, lots of space

It died after a year and a half while my other older external drives live on

Junk! Look elsewhere

This drive was meant to replace a similar model. Apparently, "green" in the title of the new drive means "trash". Skip it and get something more reliable.

Reasonable size, USB and eSATA

Seemed finicky from the get-go, then died after one hour of usage. Now shows up as unformatted drive (when it shows up at all) and causes Disk Management console to freeze

Mediocre at best, go with a better brand

We put ~100 of these to pilot at my company; our IT department used them to store images of high value machines offsite. Initially I was excited with these drives, but after 2 years I have to drop my review from 3 eggs to 1. Many of the drives failed...

At first, it worked ; 2TB with an eSata interface when I bought it in early 2010 was rare at this price point

The drive failed after very minimal use ; Customer service terrible ; Fantom won't stand by their products ; Warranty expired just before multiple drives failed ; Even with eSata, transfer speeds were often 40-50MB/s, slower than many comparable...

Great Drive, Package can include e-SATA cable

Great Drive. I used this for external drive for quite sometime. good speed. Great Price for 2 TB. Now I am using it internally inside my new gaming rig. Works flawlessly, low noise. Green LED is quite cool too

No e-SATA cable. )

Could use some improvement

Some say it's a Seagate drive in the enclosure, my system detects it as a Samsung drive. Used as system backup for Win7 and media storage. Overall satisfied...until it started crashing my system. Tried to watch a video and windows randomly...

High capacity, USB 2.0 and eSATA 3.0 Gb/s. Energy saver feature spins down and puts the drive to "sleep" when not used for about 15-20 minutes. Great portable storage

Doesn't include eSATA cable. Takes about 5-8 seconds to wake up (maybe not a 'con' for some)

On the GO!

Like any external drive it's really nice to just be able to keep all your media in one place and transfer it easily to somewhere else.

Doesn't inculde eSATA cable, and if your computer doesn't have a eSATA port, the thing can be pretty slow without it

2/2 failure upon 1st use

RMA unit arrrived with completely different power supply - interesting. Clearly redesigns are in progress, but have not addresses the apparent unreliability. Using a Syba eSATA / PCI card, since system doesn't have eSATA port.

Nothing good to say about it. RMA replacement has not even made it through one file copy ; First one worked when connected via USB. But, I need the eSATA speed

First one failed as soon as I tried to copy a large (1GB to 4GB) file to it. Intended use is to copy disk based backup to external media for offsite ; Seems the eSATA connection was too cheap and flimsy and fit the connection stiff and felt loose once...

Back Up

The external case faild after about 3 months, I had to take it apart and use it as a internal drive. Now I have to get a new shell to put it in... It's a seagate drive in a fantom external shell...might have been easier to buy just a 2T internal...just...

Easy setup, lots of space, comes with a stand and is thin so it can fit anywhere

The drive only comes with the usb cord
