Audio-Technica ATH-M50x review: The best-sounding headphones under $200 get (slightly) better

One of the reasons Audio-Technica's ATH-M50 headphones became popular was that they were sort of the anti-Beats. Or, put another way, they were the headphones for "smart" listeners who looked down on people who overpaid and got suckered into the whole...

The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones offer excellent build quality and very detailed, balanced sound with tight bass. They're also very comfortable and have slightly more cushiony earcups along with a detachable-cord...

There's no integrated microphone for making cell phone calls and the bulkier design makes them less suitable for mobile use.

Quibbles aside, the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones are a modestly improved version of the already spectacular model they're based on, and among the best-sounding pairs you'll find for less than $200.

Audio Technica ATH-M50x ( Black)

At around half the price of the original $300 Beats by Dre Studio (since replaced by an updated Beats Studio ), they sounded significantly better and were also built better. There was just one small problem. While the ATH-M50 headphones were...

Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones Review

Great news! Audio-Technica has recently introduced its revamped line of studio-grade and very much professional over-ear headphones. One of them being a new mid-level flagship successor to one of the more well known and admired headphones in recent...

Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones review: Exemplary over-ear audio

If you're looking for a pair of over-ear headphones to wear at home, but don't want to break the bank, and aren't interested in bass-boosted unnatural listening, then the Audio-Technica M50x are a definite contender.

Accessible price, no compromise neutral audio experience, immediately comfortable to wear, solid build and ample padding

Largely plastic construction, no controller on included cables, not ideal for on-the-go wear, ears get warm after extended use

Sometimes products exceed expectations, and the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones are one such example. At first we didn't think these largely plastic-constructed headphones would achieve their "professional monitor headphones" label, but they...

Some of the best £100-odd headphones there are

Powerful bass ; Good stereo imaging and separation ; Great value among peers

Bass is somewhat overemphasised ; Isolation could be better

in the world.

"Great for Dubstep, pop, classic, and all other kinds of music"

When i first started looking at these headphones i was afraid that it would not live op to my bass loving music taste, there where absolutely no reason to be worried, these are great for dubstep and hardstyle. And seen from the monitoring aspect it is...

Fantastic sound quality, It has a very good fit (On my head at least), It comes with 3 different cables and a bag

There's some sound leak, but not to bad. You will use them way to much and become deaf.
