Beoplay H4 review: not the tangerine dream we were promised

A few weeks ago, I wrote enthusiastically about a new pair of headphones from B&O Play and their quite unique tangerine color scheme. The Beoplay H4s were, and remain, a showstopper piece of...

Adventurous, bright color ; Good battery life ; Bluetooth works well ; Comfortable even when wearing glasses

Plastic exterior feels cheap and color starts wearing off quickly ; Muddy sound ; A collapsible design or a case would make them friendlier to commuters ; Poor call quality when used as a headset

B&O Play by Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H4 review

B&O Play by Bang & Olufsen has a new entry-level model in its expanding line of premium Bluetooth wireless headphones. At $300 (£249, $AU 399), I wouldn't call the Beoplay H4 a bargain, but it did surprise me with how good it sounded. I think it...

The B&O Play by Bang and Olufsen H4 is a very comfortable, excellent-sounding Bluetooth headphone with decent battery life.

It doesn't come with a carry case and has a small annoying quirk with the power button as well as an expensive price for a headphone with no active noise-cancellation.

While it's not feature loaded, the Beoplay H4's sound quality and comfort level earn it the right to be in the conversation if you're considering a full-size Bluetooth headphone for around $300.

B&O Play Beoplay H4

The B&O Beoplay H4 headphones deliver a wonderful Bluetooth audio experience and look particularly good doing it.

Excellent audio performance with bright, detailed highs and deep, rich bass. Exceptionally comfortable over-ear fit. Handsome design with luxurious materials.

Light on accessories.

Purists seeking flat response will generally love the higher frequency signature of the Beoplay H4, but perhaps wish that the deepest bass frequencies were dialed back slightly. Those who value crisp detail in the highs but also appreciate the subtle...

BeoPlay H4 review

Scandinavian entry-level over-ears

Stylish looks ; Solid, refined bass ; Comfortable

Bass has potential to overwhelm ; Potentially confusing controls ; Poor noise isolation

With a sound signature that's consciously going after the bass-lovers out there, we weren't expecting to like the sound of the BeoPlay H4 headphones as much as we did. Certainly it's a sound that suits some genres more than others, but otherwise this...

Great sound, comfortable, and stylish

These are one of the best headphones that I have ever owned. The sound is amazing, so clear, and crisp, with rich deep bass. They are very sturdy but fairly light and comfortable to wear. I love the combination of metal and leather; they look so...

Beautiful headphones

When I first opened the box I was excited to find a beautiful set of stylish headphones. The colour is gorgeous with the right ratio of leather to metal to give them a modern retro look. They are so so soft and very comfortable to wear even over...
