Blue Microphones Mo-Fi review

Blue Microphones' Mo-Fi are remarkably well-balanced, dynamic and detailed headphones, but their weight and bulk precluded long-term comfort for us.

Blue Microphones Mo-Fi headphones present a challenging proposition for buyers. From a sound-quality perspective, these headphones sound excellent, really. But from a comfort perspective, we feel like Blue got a little ahead of itself. There’s no need...

Blue Microphones Mo-Fi

The Blue Microphones Mo-Fi is a well-made, wonderful-sounding headphone pair for the serious music lover.

Extremely powerful audio output, with excellent bass response and high frequency clarity. Cool retro design with innovative compression band for secure fit. Can be used in passive and active modes, as well as active with enhanced bass response.

The bulky design isn't for everyone, and some aspects, like the Power switch, could use a little tinkering. Bright sound signature not for everyone.

If you're shopping in this price range but prefer a passive, less involved headphone pair, both the Sennheiser HD6 Mix and the V-Moda Crossfade M-100 are excellent options. If you wish to spend less, consider the Sennheiser HD 558 and the Griffin...

Mo-Fi headphones review: Everything you could want in mid-range headphones, and a little something extra

Exquisite design, exceptional comfort, outstanding audio performance; plus, an integrated analog amplifier you might never use.

Superb audio reproduction ; Supremely comfortable fit ; Integrated (defeatable) analog amplifier

Doesn't travel well due to its bulky dimensions

Priced at $350—and not discounted anywhere that I could find—the Mo-Fi’s aren’t exactly cheap, but they fully justify their price tag; in fact, they deliver an exceptional price/performance ratio.

Blue Microphones Mo-Fi headphone review

I know, the title is confusing. Why would a microphone company — literally, a company with the word “Microphones” in its name — design, create and release a $430CAD pair of powered headphones?

Mo-Fi headphones review: Everything you could want in mid-range headphones, and a little something extra

Blue Microphones made a name for itself building top-shelf USB mics. Now the company is here to demonstrate that it can do phenomenal work with analog audio going in the opposite direction. Take one look at Blue's Mo-Fi headphones, though, and you'll...

Superb audio reproduction ; Supremely comfortable fit ; Integrated (defeatable) analog amplifier

Doesn't travel well due to its bulky dimensions

My sole reservation has to do with their bulk. If you’re looking for on-the-go headphones, you might find the Mo-Fi’s to be a bit much to stash in your backpack. And while some full-size headphones can rest comfortably around your neck while you’re not...

Blue Mo-Fi Headphones Review

Blue successfully made the jump from high-quality USB microphones to headphones, and it looks good doing it. The $349 Mo-Fi has a mechanical industrial style guaranteed to turn heads in a world saturated with glossy, plastic headphones. More important,...

Unique frame adjusts for every head shape ; Built-in amp delivers clean, crisp audio ; Passive mode enables use with high-end equipment ; Can play music without battery

Heavy ; Expensive

Blue's first pair of headphones, the Mo-Fi, delivers an artful industrial design with excellent audio buoyed by a built-in amplifier.

Blue Microphones Mo-Fi Over-the-Ear Headphones Reviewed

The Mo-Fi headphones from Blue Microphones are visually distinctive, rugged, and very comfortable, but how do they perform? Steven Stone puts these over-the-ear headphones to the test.

The Mo-Fi headphones are rugged ; The Mo-Fi has a removable cable ; The Mo-Fi's fit is among the best ; The Mo-Fi headphones can be driven by even the wimpiest smartphone amplifier

The Mo-Fi headphones are heavy ; The Mo-Fi headphones do not fold into a small package ; The active modes are a step down in fidelity compared with the passive mode ; For those with a large head, the side-pressure may be excessive

The ideal customer for the Blue Mo-Fi would be someone who has proven to be hard on headphones and must have a pair with superior isolation. The Mo-Fi's all-metal headband will survive far longer in hostile environments (like recording studios) than a...
