Review: Bowers & Wilkins P3 Headphones

Although not as opulent as Bowers & Wilkins' high-end, $300 P5 headphones, the $200 P3s still sound excellent, and they deliver enough pleasure -- auditory...

Great sound quality, as expected from the Brit audio powerhouse. 30-millimeter mylar drivers handle mids and lows with gusto. Cables snake under the earpads, protecting the connection jack. Earpads and cables are user-replaceable. Folding design makes...

Light on high-end detail — you’ll have to fiddle with your EQ. Ambient noise isolation is lacking. Stowing them away inside the plastic case takes patience and practice. Cheap, thin cable

Bowers & Wilkins P3

Last year, Bowers & Wilkins set foot in the headphone market again with its C5 in-ear headphones. In our review of the C5, we praised the company for developing a well-designed, stylish and sweet-sounding set of canal phones worthy of their premium...

Spectacular treble response ; Open, uncongested midrange ; Sufficient bass for most listeners ; Excellent comfort ; Sleek, modern design

Slight midbass hump overplays heavy bass content ; In-line controls lack tactile feedback ; Very little passive noise isolation

Crystal clear highs, spectacular attack and decay, uncongested midrange and bass response sufficient enough for most types of music pairs with sleek design and excellent comfort to make for a superb headphone offering worthy of a $200 price tag.

Bowers & Wilkins P3 review: Bowers & Wilkins P3

Bower & Wilkins' P3 is the third headphone model to hit the market from the venerable British speaker company and it shares some common traits with the earlier on-ear P5 and in-ear C5 .

The Bowers & Wilkins P3 headphones have an impressive design, strong performance, and an iPhone-friendly integrated microphone/remote. They also come with a hard-shell carrying case and an extra "straight-wire" cable that can be easily swapped in.

They're fairly pricey and the integrated, remote isn't compatible with all smartphones, and you'll get some sound leakage from open-back earcup design.

The Bowers & Wilkins P3 headphones' impressive combination of design, sound quality, and features put it near the top of the class for portable headphones in its price range.

Bowers & Wilkins P3

The Bowers & Wilkins P3 headphones pair a refined bass response with a focus on mid-frequency content for a very positive sonic result.

Excellent audio performance with pleasantly resonant bass response. Does not distort on deep bass at high volumes. Very comfortable. Folds into compact shape. Built-in iPhone controls

Leaks sound at higher volumes?people nearby can hear. A slightly less-crisp response than some listeners may prefer

Bowers & Wilkins P3 Headphones Review

You have to hand it to Bowers & Wilkins. This British audio company makes some of the best sounding speakers anywhere and they charge handsomely for the privilege. But for some reason, when it comes to personal audio like headphones and earphones, they...

Tuned just right for commuting ; Very well built ; Classy ; Affordable (for B&W) ; Very comfortable ; Foldable ; Strong, protective case ; Replaceable cable

Too bassy and muffled sounding for quiet environments

Bowers & Wilkins P3 Headphones Review

Bowers & Wilkins is well known for its renowned, exquisite speakers that have made it the respectable British brand name it is today. When B&W entered the market with its first ever pair of cans, it has made it known to all that is was a force to be...

If on-ear headphones is what you're after, then we can highly recommend you turn to Aiaiai's Capital for great sound, superior comfort and even more durability for half the price than of the P3. With that said, we think the P3 aren't necessarily a bad...

Bowers & Wilkins P3 Portable Headphones

B&Ws second portable headphone, the P3 slots in below the larger, more opulent P5 model and promises the same exquisite styling in a more compact – and at $199 a more reasonably-priced – package. Does the P3 succeed in scaling down the essence of...

Retains B&W aesthetic; good build quality; comfortable; very compact & portable; replaceable cable

Sound lacks a bit in balance and clarity; may not be secure enough on small heads

The Bowers & Wilkins P3 is a luxury gadget for the iPhone crowd, offering an unbeatable combination of style, comfort, and portability, all solidly-constructed and draped in B&W pedigree. That same pedigree, however, means the P3 is likely to be picked...

Bowers & Wilkins P3: British Acoustics

I honestly would not replace either with the P3/P5, it’s not an upgrade. The senn PX100 i.e. is awesome. If you do feel the need to change I would stick with Sennheiser and try the HD25/Amperior/HD600. Mike?

Bowers & Wilkins P3 Headphones Reviewed

Bowers & Wilkins has long been thought of as a company that provides great products that are very aesthetically pleasing. The P3 headphones have done little to dissuade from that notion.

At $200 per pair, the P3s give you more than half of the performance of the costlier P5, which makes them the better value in my book. Also, they look every bit as good as the P5, yet are far more portable and easier to enjoy day to day ; The P3's...

The physical construction of the P3 takes some time to loosen up, so be prepared for a bit of design, not audio, break-in. After a few hour-long sessions, the ear pieces, strap and folding mechanism did loosen up, making use and long-term wear easier ;...

The all-new P3 headphones from Bowers & Wilkins continue in the tradition set forth by the P5 and C5 before it. While the P5 is still the superior product, the P3 manages to pack the lion's share of what makes the P5 so special in a more compact and...
