Etymotic ER-4PT MicroPro Earphones

The Etymotic ER-4PT MicroPro earphones deliver great sound for the price, but the custom in-ear molds aren't as comfortable as competing options.

While the Etymotic ER-4PT MicroPro earphones offer excellent audio quality, we found the custom molds difficult to insert. Still, if you don't want to spend more than $300, we prefer the sound from the ER-4 more than the Sonomax eers PCS-250. We...

Etymotic ER-4PT MicroPro review: Etymotic ER-4PT MicroPro

First, a bit of clarification. In case you didn't realize it, Etymotic has four versions of its ER-4 MicroPro series earphones, each of which retail for $299. According to the company, here's how the differences break down:

The Etymotic MicroPro ER-4PTs are accurate, well-balanced in-ear headphones. Their treble clarity and precision let you hear details in the recording, and they exhibit a richer and more satisfying balance in bass and midrange than the Etymotic HF5s....

The thick plastic around the ER-4PTs' plug may restrict access to some smartphones or audio devices housed in cases. If you like a lot of bass, the ER-4PTs will come up a little short. Complete sonic isolation and some cord-related vibrations can also...

While the Etymotic ER-4PTs have less low-end oomph than some competing earphones in this price class, they deliver excellent sound with very accurate tonal balance.

Etymotic ER-4S

Superb, flat response. Earpieces are almost perfectly sonically matched. Multiple ear tips, sturdy carrying case included

Can be difficult to achieve a perfect seal properly. Not for bass lovers

The ER-4S is an industry standard for consumer-level flat-response earphones, offering a pure, unaffected listening experience.

Etymotic ER-4P, ER-4S

It would be easy to stick Etymotic Research's ER-4S ($299 direct) in your ears, press play, and wonder what makes these earphones so special. Chances are that if you can't tell, you haven't obtained the proper ear canal seal (which can be tricky)or you...

Etymotic Research ER•4PT MicroPro Earphones w/CUSTOM•FIT Eartips Review

Several years ago, I reviewed Etymotic Research hf5 High-Fidelity earphones. Although being a writer at The Gadgeteer enables me to try/review many earphones per year, I continue to enjoy and regularly use the hf5′s to this day. Their size and...

Excellent sound experience ; Great size and form-factor ; Quality construction and materials ; Little cable noise ; CUSTOM•FIT Eartips are perfectly fitted and extremely comfortable ; 2 year warranty

Expensive

In some peoples opinion, the ER•4′s with CUSTOM•FIT eartips may not look as cool as a set of monitors, but they are extremely comfortable and sound great. The ER•4PT cost $299 (can be found for less on the usual online stores) and the CUSTOM•FIT...

Etymotic ER-4S Headphones

Stupendous sonic presentation, definitive clearness

The sound quality is good. These are good in sound isolation

After a long run, they can prove to be uneasy for the ears. The spare filters included are used quite often, means they are easily accumulating dirt. They are not appropriate for mobility
