Grado RS-2 Reference Series

Editors' note: The rating on this review has been lowered because of changes in the competitive marketplace.

Real mahogany wood earpieces and a genuine leather headband add style to what may be the best-sounding headphones around.

These handcrafted headphones are expensive and a little less comfortable than the competition.

Grado's RS-2 Reference Series headphones are strong contenders for world's best sound.

Grado RS 2 Headphones

The RS 2 is the number three model in Grado's headphone lineup, but among headphone aficionados it enjoys a reputation for capturing much of the essential goodness of the very expensive, top-tier Grado models (the RS 1 and GS 1000), yet at a more...

"you don't here the drivers"

You can be at the concert without leaving your room. Make sure you are listening to good recordings as these put most mp3's into their place. If you buy these have fun!

When you start to listen to these headphones you forget that you are listening to headphones. they are simply one of the best out and if you are serious about listening to music this is one of the better life choices.

Price (Like any high end headphone).

"Great sound. Poor comfort."

These have a marvelous natural sounding performance. I haven't heard a pair that's better. However, because the ear cups press down firmly on the pinna, they are only moderately comfortable when you slap them on, and acutely uncomfortable after 30...

Superb, almost perfect sound

Uncomfortable. Leak enough sound to bother others close by.

"Incredible headphones! Wash the pads to make them more comfortable, though."

These are incredible headphones, to say the least. I'm not going to go into great detail about how great the sound is, since I already highlighted the excellent sound qualities that these headphones have to offer. They are not fatiguing in the least to...

Immaculate and forceful mids with deep and powerful, yet tight and punchy bass, and sweet, clear, sublime highs.

It costs money. A lot of money.

A Headphone Ferrari In Disguise

The RS2 is billed as the "baby brother" of the classic Grado RS1. At $495, it's a pricey set of cans but its saving grace is the fact that it's more than a "baby brother." It's almost a twin. If you just have to have an RS1, accept no substitutes. But...

RS1's for $200 less - cans with solid bass, warmth and amazing clarity

Too expensive for Grado newbies. At $69, the SR60s are a better introduction

Grado RS2 Headphone Reviews

While I have tried most of the Grado range, in some way or another I found many of the higher end models too fatiguing after hours of listening for one reason or another.

Product Specifications

The newest edition to the Grado family, the RS2 is the little brother of the RS1. The characteristics of the RS2 remain the same as its distinguished big brother's, with the hand crafted mahogany, but there is a smaller wooden air chamber. Although a miniature version of the RS1, they still maintain an overall sound that is pure Grado, warm harmonic color, full bodied vocals, excellent dynamics and ultra smooth top end. These truly are audiophile
