Sennheiser HD518 Headphones - Comfort Listening

Sennheiser launched three new HD headphone models in India a couple of months ago, of which the HD518 is the entry-level variant. These headphones hope to hold the door open for aspiring audiophiles to take a small step inside. Let's see if they are a...

The Sennheiser HD518s are priced at Rs. 6,490, which I would say is a little on the steep side considering they need burning in to be rid of the muddiness. A thousand or two lower and these would be an absolutely fantastic buy – but I’d still recommend...

Sennheiser HD 518

The cheapest Sennheiser circumaural HD-series model is a winner.

Great value ; Wonderful warm and detailed sound ; Detachable cable

Speaker grille an acquired taste

Boasting true high-end audio quality at a price that won't make your wife leave you or necessitate cancelling your kids' Christmas for a year, the Sennheiser HD 518 are an absolute bargain. They sound warm, detailed and easy-going, and should please...

Sennheiser HD518

Surprising amount of bass for a Sennheiser product. Slight emphasis in the midrange reveals lots of detail

Plug will not fit my son's tablet or his I phone. At least he can't borrow these headphones

Excellent combination of quality and features for the price. Aftermarket cable recommended for mobile use.

The 518, 558, and 598 all curiously have the same sound drivers, and the main difference between them is a gradual shift from bass to treble and with each succeeding headphone having a wider soundstage and more comfortable fit. But overall these are...

Impressive clarity and soundstage with a balanced and relaxed blend of bass, mid-range, and treble, the latter of which is not sibilant at all ; Requires no additional hardware, such as amplifiers or sound cards ; Very comfortable cloth padding which...

Doesn't seem like it would take very many drops ; Default 3.5mm adapter is bulky, as is the separate 3.5mm cable from Sennheiser, hindering mobile use ; Leaks more sound than other open-backed headphones ; CORD & MOBILE USE CONSIDERATIONS: These...

Mostly dissapointed

These are cheap construction, cheap sounding and feel cheap.

They are over the ear (large). The cable is long and thick

These are NOT comfortable, they don't sound right and the outside noise is amplified, not reduced. I have a $30 pair of on ear Sony's that are at much, much better. The "vented" design means 100% of outside noise bleeds through and can't imagine anyone...

Sennheiser HD 518

If you want noise cancelling qualities, do not get these. People can hear what you're listening to (and vice versa) if they sit nearby. However, this is the price you pay for the open ear design. They will beat noise cancelling headphones any day when...

Awesome highs and mids, accurate and responsive lows. I love the open ended ear design, it lets my ears breathe and helps acoustically just like it's more expensive cousins, HD 555 and HD 598 offer. These are definitely audiophile headphones

The 3.5mm/6.3mm adapter is way too large. Maybe a problem in certain situations

Audiophile Headphones at an affordable price

These headphones are very good for their price. They perform great at reproducing highs, mids, and lows. I really think they are great headphones.

High quality drivers, and a very well built construction based design. Clear Highs, and very enjoyable mids and lows. The soundstage is great. Detachable cable

The headphones leak, but that is how they get their great soundstage. The hinges feel a little flimsy, but the headphones are very durable. The headphone comes with a built in 1/4 adapter, with a 3.5 mm adapter, but is quite large, and might not fit...

Solid choice

I bought these as a cheaper replacement for my HD595\'s that need repair (after 3 years of flawless, constant use.) Another reason for buying these aside from the price is that I wanted a pair of open-backed cans that had a little stronger bass...
