JBL Reflect Aware review: A Lightning headphone that's ready for your new iPhone 7

This sports headphone has some unique features, including active noise-cancellation and customizable audio. But how good does it sound?

The JBL Reflect Aware in-ear sports headphones offer a secure, comfortable fit, are sweat-resistant, and have an integrated Lightning connector and reflective cord. They also feature active noise cancellation, and a companion app allows you to adjust...

Noise canceling isn't strong enough; Lightning connection draws a small amount of power from your phone and reduces battery life; no adapter included to plug the headphone into a standard headphone jack.

There's a lot to like about the JBL Reflect, particularly the fit, but some performance drawbacks hurt its value.

JBL Reflect Aware

The exercise-focused JBL Reflect Aware earphones sport a Lightning connection for Apple devices and deliver solid, customizable audio performance with merely average noise cancellation.

Lightning connector for Apple devices. Customizable EQ. Strong bass and crisp highs. Built-in noise cancellation and ambient mics. Sweatproof. Reflective design ideal for outdoor exercise.

Average noise cancellation and ambient mics. Slightly expensive for what you get. No 3.5mm connection for non-Apple devices.

Conclusions For $200, the JBL Reflect Aware gets the sweatproof, exercise-friendly part right, and nails the audio thanks to a customizable EQ. We'll consider the so-so noise cancellation and ambient mics a harmless additional feature. If you'd rather...

JBL Reflect Aware review: Amazing Lightning connector headphones

JBL's first set of Lightning connector headphones, Reflect Aware, have noise cancellation, are sweat proof and sound damn good!

Great sound, noise cancelling works great, adjustable noise cancelling in app, reflective cable for runners, sweat proof.

For iPhone only, price point may turn some buyers off.

Excellent sounding Lightning headphones with amazing EQ versatility, noise cancellation and sound. If you can part with this much cash these are a sure bet for iPhone users. One other note, I did not see any noticeable battery drain while using the...

JBL Reflect Aware

The JBL Reflect Aware are in-ear headphones packed with up-to-date tech. They feature active noise cancellation and have an iPhone Lightning connector rather than a normal 3.5mm jack.

Problematic sound and so-so noise cancellation keep the Reflect Aware from earning a recommendation.

JBL Reflect Aware review

A talented and versatile pair of in-ear headphones, let down by a lack of refinement

Lively, engaging sound ; Tight, punchy bass ; Decent detail ; Active noise-cancelling ; Good fit ; Water resistant

Treble lacks a bit of refinement ; ANC could be better ; Drains phone battery quicker with ANC on ; A little pricey

A talented and versatile pair of in-ears, but a lack of refinement in the treble dulls their shine a little

JBL Reflect Aware review: Lightning earphones for sporty iPhone 7 users

With Apple having famously ditched the 3.5mm jack in the iPhone 7, we're just on the cusp of audio companies rushing to flood the market. Among this first wave is JBL, with one of the first pairs of Lightning-equipped wired in-ear headphones. As an...

Superbly comfortable ear tips that stay in, great in-line remote, loud and ample bass

Lightning connector means you can't use it with your other devices, pricey

As an overall package, the JBL Reflect Aware offer a great option for iPhone users who need good in-ear headphones that stay in during long runs or workout sessions.
